Abstract

Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) models describe a set of $N$ qubits which are located at the corners of an $N$-dimensional simplex and embedded in an external magnetic field. Because of its high coordinate number, quantum correlations in the models are quite nontrivial. For instance, in the large-$N$ limit, two-site entanglement concurrence vanishes for any magnetic field. Multisite global entanglement and generalized global entanglement also tend to vanish in some quantum regions. We characterize the quantum correlations in the LMG model with multipartite nonlocality. In LMG models with anisotropy in the $x\ensuremath{-}y$ plane, for any fixed magnetic field, the ground-state nonlocality (denoted by $\mathcal{S}$) is found to scale as ${log}_{10}\mathcal{S}\ensuremath{\sim}aN+b$, with $a$ and $b$ the fitting parameters. For LMG models which are isotropic in the $x\ensuremath{-}y$ plane, nevertheless, the nonlocality for each Dicke state scales as ${log}_{10}\mathcal{S}\ensuremath{\sim}a\frac{1}{N}+b$, with $b>0$. Signals for the quantum phase transitions of the models will also be discussed. These results indicate that multipartite nonlocality captures some key ingredient of the ground-state quantum correlations in the models. In addition to the ground states, we also study multipartite nonlocality in the LMG models at finite temperatures. In the anisotropic models, the thermal stability of the nonlocality at low temperatures is determined by the energy gap. For the isotropic models, nevertheless, as the temperature increases, the nonlocality presents a sharp valley which is followed by a round peak. The behavior is far beyond the above-mentioned ``thermal stability vs energy gap'' picture. The underlying mechanics is the ``contribution inversion'' of low-lying energy states in the thermal-state nonlocality $\mathcal{S}({\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\rho}}}_{T})$; that is, in a low-temperature region, the first-excited state ``defeats'' the ground state and plays a dominant role in thermal-state nonlocality.

Global quantum discord in the Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick model at zero and finite temperatures

Jia Bao, Yanhong Liu, Bin Guo

Abstract We study the global quantum discord (GQD) in the Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick (LMG) model at zero and finite temperatures, in which all spins are mutually interacted and introduced in an external magnetic field (denoted by h ). We confirm that the high coordinate number is one of the most distinguishing features of the LMG model, which directly results in the nontrivial behaviors of quantum correlations. We compare the GQD with other quantum correlations measures (such as concurrence, quantum discord, and global entanglement) and find the remarkable difference between them. For instance, we find that GQD spreads in the entire system and captures more information on quantum correlations when comparing with concurrence and quantum (pairwise) discord. We discover that GQD can characterize multipartite correlations in the both broken phase ( h < 1) and the symmetric phase ( h ⩾ 1), while global entanglement and its generalized fail. Moreover, we show that the ground-state GQD can identify second-order quantum phase transitions of the LMG model in the thermodynamic limit. By making the scaling behavior of the GQD in the LMG model analysis, we show that GQD (denoted by G ) scales as G ∼ k ⋅ N + c with k > 0 in the anisotropic cases for any fixed magnetic field. We further show that GQD behaves as G | s n ∼ k ⋅ 1 N + c with k < 0 in the isotropic cases for any Dicke state | s n ⟩. Herein k and c are the fitting parameters. We also find that the thermal stability of the GQD at low temperatures depends on the energy gap. We further reveal that the extraordinary behaviors of the thermal-state GQD in the isotropic LMG model are explained by the contribution theory of the energy levels.

Thermal Entanglement in Lipkin—Meshkov—Glick Model

Long Du, Wenxin Zhang, Jia-Yan Ding +2 more

We investigate the thermal entanglement in the Lipkin—Meshkov—Glick (LMG) model which consists of spin-1/2 particles with XXZ-type exchange interactions between any pair of them. The ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) cases are completely analyzed at both finite temperature and zero temperature. According to the results obtained by accurate numerical calculation, several interesting physic phenomena and characteristics of thermal entanglement in the LMG model are found. Not only do we evaluate the entanglement of the LMG model, but also discover the correlations between macroscopic physical quantities and thermal entanglement.

Energy level splitting and parity oscillation in Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model

Yu Yi-Xiang, Song Ning-Fang, Liu Wu-Ming

The Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model originally describes a Fermionic many-body system in nuclear physics. However, in recent years, it has been widely found in condensed matter physics, quantum information systems, and quantum optics, and it is of wider and wider interest. Previous studies on this model mainly focused on the physics under the thermal dynamical limit, such as quantum phase transitions and quantum entanglement. There are also some researches about LMG model with finite size in some special limits, but the finite-size effect on energy spectrum is not very clear yet. This is the main motivation of this work. In this paper, the exact diagonalization method and the quantum perturbation theory are used to calculate and analyze the energy-level structure of the LMG model at a finite N. To solve it, we first map this model into the angular-momentum space to obtain a reduced LMG model. By this mapping, the dimension of Hilbert space is reduced to N+1 from 2N. The exact solution of its energy levels can be obtained easily in the U(1) limit where the total spin is conserved. We find that the levels are woven into a fishing-net structure in the U(1) limit. While away from the U(1) limit, the crossings between even and odd levels will open a gap, and the system's energy levels will be grouped into pairs with an odd and an even level, forming some bound states, called doublet states, and the parity of each doublet state will oscillate as the Zeeman field increases. This work gives the values of the critical Zeeman field for the parity crossings. These critical values shift as the interacting parameters and disappear at zero in the Z2 limit. In the Z2 limit, the system energy levels form splittings near the zero Zeeman field. In this article, we analytically calculate the relationship between these energy gaps and the Zeeman field. For odd and even number N, the parity of each state has a different behavior. Specifically, the ground state and the doublet excited states of the system with odd N will suffer a parity reversion at zero Zeeman field, while the states with even N will not. By tuning the interacting parameters, we also study the crossover from the U(1) limit to the Z2 limit. The parity oscillation we find in this system is a very important physical phenomenon, which also exists in some other systems like optical cavity quantum electrodynamics and magnetic molecule system.

Generalized isotropic Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models: ground state entanglement and quantum entropies

José A Carrasco, Federico Finkel, Artemio González-López +2 more

Abstract We introduce a new class of generalized isotropic Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models with spin and long-range non-constant interactions, whose non-degenerate ground state is a Dicke state of type. We evaluate in closed form the reduced density matrix of a block of L spins when the whole system is in its ground state, and study the corresponding von Neumann and Rényi entanglement entropies in the thermodynamic limit. We show that both of these entropies scale as when L tends to infinity, where the coefficient a is equal to ( m − k )/2 in the ground state phase with k vanishing magnon densities. In particular, our results show that none of these generalized Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models are critical, since when their Rényi entropy R q becomes independent of the parameter q . We have also computed the Tsallis entanglement entropy of the ground state of these generalized Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models, finding that it can be made extensive by an appropriate choice of its parameter only when . Finally, in the case we construct in detail the phase diagram of the ground state in parameter space, showing that it is determined in a simple way by the weights of the fundamental representation of . This is also true in the case; for instance, we prove that the region for which all the magnon densities are non-vanishing is an ( m + 1)-simplex in whose vertices are the weights of the fundamental representation of .

Magnetic-field-induced oscillation of multipartite nonlocality in spin ladders

Hong-Guang Cheng, Meng Li, Yuying Wu +5 more

Spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ two-leg ladder models under a magnetic field have a well-known phase diagram. In this paper, we use multipartite nonlocality (a measure of multipartite quantum correlations) to characterize the quantum correlations in the ladder models at zero temperature. Both finite-size and infinite-size ladders are considered. We investigate the global nonlocality ${\mathcal{S}}_{g}=\mathcal{S}(|{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Psi}}}_{g}\ensuremath{\rangle})$, which describes quantum correlations of the ground states $|{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Psi}}}_{g}\ensuremath{\rangle}$ of the entire lattices, and the partial nonlocality ${\mathcal{S}}_{p}=\mathcal{S}({\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\rho}}}_{n})$, which describes quantum correlations of the reduced states ${\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\rho}}}_{n}$ of some sublattices in the ladders. We find that as the magnetic field $\ensuremath{\lambda}$ increases, the global nonlocality ${\mathcal{S}}_{g}$ presents a single-peak curve. Moreover, the logarithmic measure $ln{\mathcal{S}}_{g}$ changes dramatically at the two critical fields ${\ensuremath{\lambda}}_{{c}_{1}}$ and ${\ensuremath{\lambda}}_{{c}_{2}}$ of the models and thus signals the quantum phase transitions in the models. For the partial nonlocality ${\mathcal{S}}_{p}$, in the regions ${\ensuremath{\lambda}}_{{c}_{1}}<\ensuremath{\lambda}<{\ensuremath{\lambda}}_{{c}_{2}}$, we observe that the ${\mathcal{S}}_{p}(\ensuremath{\lambda})$ curve shows an oscillation. Numerical results reveal that the underling mechanism is the ``major component transitions'' in the reduced states ${\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\rho}}}_{n}$ of the sublattices. More importantly, the oscillation of the partial nonlocality ${\mathcal{S}}_{p}$ is modulated by the single-peak curve of the global nonlocality ${\mathcal{S}}_{g}$. The result provides valuable clues about the relation between partial nonlocality and global nonlocality in low-dimensional quantum models.

Berry phase and fidelity susceptibility of the three-qubit Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick ground state

Erik Sjöqvist, Ramij Rahaman, Urna Basu +1 more

Berry phases and quantum fidelities for interacting spins have attracted considerable attention, in particular in relation to entanglement properties of spin systems and quantum phase transitions. These efforts mainly focus either on spin pairs or the thermodynamic infinite spin limit, while studies of the multipartite case of a finite number of spins are rare. Here, we analyze Berry phases and quantum fidelities of the energetic ground state of a Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model consisting of three spin-1/2 particles (qubits). We find explicit expressions for the Berry phase and fidelity susceptibility of the full system as well as the mixed state Berry phase and partial-state fidelity susceptibility of its one- and two-qubit subsystems. We demonstrate a realization of a nontrivial magnetic monopole structure associated with local, coordinated rotations of the three-qubit system around the external magnetic field.
