The principle of greatest freedom

Sylvain Battisti

Abstract

Elementary particles are the common capital of any being in the universe. However, a being is characterized by its behavior as well as its capital and the principle of least action shows the common behavior of partners that transfer energy. However, the concept of action does not apply to all transfers; what is the action when two men transfer words? Here we show that the “principle of greatest freedom” reveals the common behavior of any partner during nondestructive relationship that is to maximize the number of its accessible states, i.e., its freedom. It gives a common interpretation to quantum mechanics, to wave-particle duality and to relativity. It defines the coherent relationship, which explains why objects behave consistently according to laws and why they construct compound beings that evolve.

On the Fundamental Meaning of the Principle of Least Action and Consequences for a “Dynamic” Quantum Physics

H. Tributsch

The principle of least action, which has so successfully been applied to diverse fields of physics looks back at three centuries of philosophical and mathematical discussions and controversies. They could not explain why nature is applying the principle and why scalar energy quantities succeed in describing dynamic motion. When the least action integral is subdivided into infinitesimal small sections each one has to maintain the ability to minimize. This however has the mathematical consequence that the Lagrange function at a given point of the trajectory, the dynamic, available energy generating motion, must itself have a fundamental property to minimize. Since a scalar quantity, a pure number, cannot do that, energy must fundamentally be dynamic and time oriented for a consistent understanding. It must have vectorial properties in aiming at a decrease of free energy per state (which would also allow derivation of the second law of thermodynamics). Present physics is ignoring that and applying variation calculus as a formal mathematical tool to impose a minimization of scalar assumed energy quantities for obtaining dynamic motion. When, however, the dynamic property of energy is taken seriously it is fundamental and has also to be applied to quantum processes. A consequence is that particle and wave are not equivalent, but the wave (distributed energy) follows from the first (concentrated energy). Information, provided from the beginning, an information self-image of matter, is additionally needed to recreate the particle from the wave, shaping a “dynamic” particle-wave duality. It is shown that this new concept of a “dynamic” quantum state rationally explains quantization, the double slit experiment and quantum correlation, which has not been possible before. Some more general considerations on the link between quantum processes, gravitation and cosmological phenomena are also advanced.

Is the Basic Structure of the Universe Simple?

Martin Tamm

Can our extremely complicated world be explained, starting from simple conditions and laws? Such questions easily become metaphysical, but at the same time they have historically served science well by promoting new and fruitful ideas. Of particular interest in this paper is the unification of general relativity and quantum mechanics. It is suggested that a way to find a common basis for these theories could be to view them both as stochastic theories which, among all possible macroscopic developments, promote the simplest ones. But with the difference that general relativity uses real probabilities, whereas quantum mechanics uses complex weights. In a certain sense this approach goes back to the Principle of Least Action, although the perspective on this principle in the present paper is different from the one which is commonly used in contemporary physics. It is also suggested that a more general principle, which applies to both theories and which is beyond both stationarity and minimizing, could give us a better starting point for the unification.

The Theory of Disappearance and Appearance

Mazen Khoder

It is known that quantum mechanics is one of the most successful theories in physics across the entire history of physics, nevertheless, many believe that its foundations are still not really understood like: wave-particle duality, interference, entanglement, quantum tunneling, uncertainty principle, vacuum catastrophe, wave collapse, relation between classical mechanics and quantum mechanics, classical limit, quantum chaos etc., and the continuous failures in the unify between relativity theory and quantum theory may be an indication about a problem in the foundations, this paper aims at discovering the first small step in the path of solving and understanding these quantum puzzles, in fact, the key to solving quantum puzzles is by understanding the reality of the motion and how it occurs. This paper proposes a model of motion with a new action principle like the principle of least action called alike action principle. Actually, we have been able to deduce the principles of quantum mechanics so that the oddity of the quantum becomes easier to understand and interpret, for example, this paper proposes a solution to vacuum catastrophe and gives us the origin of dark energy, and shows that the basic law of motion must be broader than both quantum mechanics and classical mechanics.

Quantum Mechanical Approach to the Meaning of Existence, Will and Life

Hironari Yamada

Author has given an interpretation of quantum mechanics in totally new approach named Dialogue Principle. Author point out how similar is the living phenomena and human behavior to the movement of elementary particles, if we agree with that the wave function implies the existing probability of elementary particles in the topological space. In the dialogue principle, the reasons for this similarity is explained by introducing common concept “character” and “will” among living specimens as well as elementary particles. Author describes that “will” is the origin of all strange behavior among elementary particles as well as human beings. “Will” is the subject of 21st Century to be studied scientifically. Author proposes that the concept of “will” should be added to the base of modern science to gives unified understanding of all existence including elementary particles, human beings, and universe. In this paper the digest of the dialogue principle is given, and approaches to the meaning of life by the philosophy of quantum mechanics.

Origin of Probability in Quantum Mechanics and New Physical Interpretation of the State Function of an Elementary Particle

Shuming Wen

Abstract The theoretical results of quantum mechanics (QM) have been verified by experiments, but the probabilistic Copenhagen interpretation is still controversial, and many counterintuitive phenomena are still difficult to understand. To trace the origin of probability in QM, we construct the amplitudes of a space-time position in a multiparticle quantum objective system and find that the probability in QM originates from the particle number distribution rate in a unit volume near position r at time t in the multiparticle quantum objective system. Based on the origin of probability, the quantization conditions of action and the principle of least action for an elementary particle (referred to as particle) , we find that when a particle moves in space-time, it periodically and alternately exhibit particle and wave state. We have derived the formula for the fringe positions in the double-slit experiment with particles, a new certainty relation and the uncertainty relation, obtain the localized and nonlocalized spatiotemporal range of the particle, the apparent trajectory of the particle motion. Based on this, through rigorous mathematical derivation and analysis, we propose new physical interpretations of the quantum superposition state, wave-particle duality, the double-slit experiment, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and the quantum tunnelling effect, and these interpretations are physically logical and not counterintuitive.

The quantum world and the completeness of quantum mechanics

James T. Cushing

What does not satisfy me in that theory [quantum mechanics], from the standpoint of principle, is its attitude towards that which appears to me to be the programmatic aim of all physics: the complete description of any (individual) real situation (as it supposedly exists irrespective of any act of observation or substantiation). Albert Einstein, Reply to Criticisms [This] implies the impossibility of any sharp separation between the behaviour of atomic objects and the interaction with the measuring instruments which serve to define the conditions under which the phenomena appear . In fact, the individuality of the typical quantum effects finds its proper expression in the circumstance that any attempt of subdividing the phenomena will demand a change in the experimental arrangement introducing new possibilities of interaction between objects and measuring instruments which in principle cannot be controlled. Consequently, evidence obtained under different experimental conditions cannot be comprehended within a single picture, but must be regarded as complementary in the sense that only the totality of the phenomena exhausts the possible information about the objects. Indeed the finite interaction between object and measuring agencies conditioned by the very existence of the quantum of action entails – because of the impossibility of controlling the reaction of the object on the measuring instruments, if these are to serve their purpose – the necessity of a final renunciation of the classical idea of causality and a radical revision of our attitude towards the problem of physical reality.
