We discuss how SU(1,1) coherent states from the discrete series allow for a natural coarse graining operation. The physical application is quantum theories based on a set of three extensive observables whose Poisson algebra is isomorphic to su(1,1). In particular, we show that a Perelomov coherent state with representation label Nj0 and spinor label z encodes the physics of N independent subsystems with labels j0,z. This property is suggested by existing results for the expectation values and variances of the observables. We prove that it holds for all higher moments. Our results in particular apply to a recent quantum cosmology model that has been derived using SU(1,1) group theoretic quantisation techniques. For it, it follows that a certain notion of fiducial cell independence holds exactly at the quantum level when using the coherent states.
Coherent states bridge the gap between quantum and classical physics, but their overcomplete and nonorthogonal nature makes it difficult to identify the minimal discrete set needed to reconstruct quantum information. Finite spin-coherent tomography and discrete coherent-state operator bases are known, but here we address the more specific rank-resolved problem of preserving the canonical contravariant-symbol representation. We show that the canonical finite coherent-state formula reconstructs every operator in the rank-
S sector exactly if and only if the sampling points form a spherical
(2J+S)-design. We call the associated configurations spin-coherent quantum designs. We further give a fully explicit positive-weight Gauss-Legendre construction that avoids the need for an equal-weight spherical design. Together, these results establish a unified framework for reading out physical observables from a handful of measurement samples, playing for spin systems the role that the so-called von Neumann lattice plays for canonical coherent states. Finally, we derive practical protocols for estimating moments of spin operators from these constructions, with direct applications to polarimetry, magnetometry, and quantum state tomography.
Abstract A beam splitter operator is a very important linear device in the field of quantum optics and quantum information. It can not only be used to prepare complete representations of quantum mechanics, entangled state representation, but it can also be used to simulate the dissipative environment of quantum systems. In this paper, by combining the transform relation of the beam splitter operator and the technique of integration within the product of the operator, we present the coherent state representation of the operator and the corresponding normal ordering form. Based on this, we consider the applications of the coherent state representation of the beam splitter operator, such as deriving some operator identities and entangled state representation preparation with continuous-discrete variables. Furthermore, we extend our investigation to two single and two-mode cascaded beam splitter operators, giving the corresponding coherent state representation and its normal ordering form. In addition, the application of a beam splitter to prepare entangled states in quantum teleportation is further investigated, and the fidelity is discussed. The above results provide good theoretical value in the fields of quantum optics and quantum information.
