Quantum software engineering and quantum software development lifecycle: a survey

Kanishk Dwivedi, Majid Haghparast, Tommi Mikkonen

Abstract Quantum software engineering is advancing in the domain of quantum computing research and application, yet the documentation is scattered. The slow transition from Von-Neumann based computation systems to quantum systems, and conserving the fundamental computing principles in software development and software engineering helps in enrichment of quantum software development. The evolution of quantum computing over the past years shows a shift in the domain of classical computation to quantum computation in the years to come. Future applications such as, quantum AI and quantum machine learning will benefit from quantum software engineering. This survey collects and explores the various documentations in the domain of quantum systems and quantum software engineering. The survey provides an in-depth exploration of quantum programming languages, which is combined with explanations of quantum computing’s fundamentals. The review also goes in-depth about quantum software engineering and quantum software life cycle development, outlining the quantum software reuse methodology that is introduced in the quantum software lifecycle development domain.

Quantum Software Testing 101

Shaukat Ali

Quantum software testing (QST) is an emerging research area within quantum software engineering (QSE) to ensure quantum software functional and non-functional correctness and dependability. Since quantum computers perform computations significantly differently than classical computing, testing quantum software running on these quantum computers also differs due to quantum computing's unique characteristics, e.g., entanglement and superposition. Due to the rising interest of the software engineering community in QSE, we will provide an introduction to QST. We will introduce quantum computing and its various principles, quantum software development as quantum circuits, and current QST literature, including a key set of techniques with examples. Finally, a set of future research challenges related to QST will be presented.

Quantitative Assessment of Software Security by Quantum Technique Using Fuzzy TOPSIS

Mohd Nadeem, Masood Ahmad, Syed Anas Ansar +2 more

Abstract Quantum computer development attracts the security experts of software. The rapid development of number of qubit in quantum computer makes the present security mechanism of software insecure. Software developers need to pay attention to the development of quantum computers in terms of software security. Software security evaluation focuses on the fundamental security features of software as well as the quantum enable security alternatives. The software security evaluation is the most crucial part of surveying, controlling, and administering security in order to further improve the properties of safety. It's crucial to understand that performing a security assessment early on in the development process can help you find bugs, vulnerabilities, faults, and attacks. In this quantitative study, the definition and use of the quantum computing security approach in software security will be covered. The cryptographic calculations had to secure our institutions based on computer and network. The Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Situation (Fuzzy-TOPSIS) is to quantitatively assess the rank of the quantum enable security alternatives with security factors. The Quantum Key Distribution, quantum technique of security has got the top priority in the estimation of software security during the era of quantum computer. The quantum mechanism of computing makes the classical computing insecure. The assessment of software security is tried to evaluate factors and its impact on alternatives mathematically.
