Calculating the Probabilities of Quantum Transitions in Atoms and Molecules Numerically through Functional Integration

Alexander Alexandrovich Biryukov, Ya. V. Degtyareva, Марк Александрович Шлеенков

Abstract The probabilities of quantum transitions are described by integrals over trajectories in the space of energy states of a system exposed to an electromagnetic field. A recurrent relationship approach is proposed for numerical calculations of these integrals and for describing two-photon Rabi oscillations.

Transition Probabilities in Quantum Mechanics of Kuryshkin

А. В. Зорин, А. В. Зорин

The method of calculating probabilities of radiation transitions in hydrogen-like atoms in quantum mechanics with nonnegative distribution function is proposed. Galerkin method using Sturmian functions of the hydrogen atom as basis functions allows to reduce the computations to algebraic operations with matrix elements calculated analitically.

On a trajectory method for evaluating the transition probability in a quantum system

Valery V Smirnov

A version of calculation of the transition probability in a quantum system based on the representation of the transition probabilities in the form of a path integral and its evaluation by the saddle-point method for part of the variables. Some problems associated with the analytic continuation of the integrand are discussed. The proposed approach is compared to related methods widely used in chemical physics.

Equation for the Probability of Quantum Transitions in the Method of Path Integrals and Stochastic Processes in the Space of Joint Events

Alexander Alexandrovich Biryukov

Abstract The evolution of the system is described as a stochastic process in the space of random joint events, in which both a symmetric difference and a symmetric sum of events are introduced. The probability of a system transition between states is represented by a series of double, triple, etc., integrals of real functionals of joint event trajectories. The expression coincides with the transition probability in quantum theory if only pairwise joint random trajectories are taken into account in the model.

Numerical calculations of the probabilities for quantum transitions in atoms and molecules by the path integral method

Alexander Alexandrovich Biryukov, Yana Vladimirovna Degtyareva

The probabilities of molecular quantum transitions induced by electromagnetic field are expressed as path integrals of a real alternating functional. We propose a new method for computing these integrals by means of recurrence relations. We apply this approach to description of the two-photon Rabi oscillations.
