Abstract

Computers decrease human work and concentrate on enhancing the performance to advance the technology. Various methods have been developed to enhance the performance of computers. Performance of computer is based on computer architecture, while computer architecture differs in various devices, such as microcomputers, minicomputers, mainframes, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. While each device has its own architecture, the majority of these systems are built on Boolean algebra. In this study, a few basic concepts used in quantum computing are discussed. It is known that quantum computers do not possess any transistor and chip while being roughly 100 times faster than a common classic silicon computer. Scientists believe that quantum computers are the next generation of the classic computers.

Computer systems architecture vs quantum computer

Kuntam Babu Rao

Technology is growing very fast, every day we see new things and changes to technology. There is a lot of history for computer systems. Nearly they are for 60 years. Computer Architecture is changed from day one to till today. Based on Computer Architecture new computer systems are developed. Computer Architecture is different for microcomputer, minicomputer, mainframes, laptops, palmtop, tablets, mobile phones which are used as smart computers. Each device is having its own architectures. These systems are based on Boolean algebra. In this paper we say about quantum computers system with architecture. Quantum Computer is based on using device at required amount. Quantum Computers are one type of supercomputers, can solve lot of problems that which cannot be solved by normal computers. This is 100 times faster than microcomputers. It is based on quantum physics.

Can Quantum Computers Replace the Classical Computer

Nikhil Talele, Ajinkya Shukla, Sumant Bhat

The first computer originated as an ordinary calculator in 19th century. Subsequently, the rapid evolution of computers began. The massive amount of processing power generated by computer manufacturers has always failed to quench the thirst for speed and computing capacity. If, as Moore's Law states, the number of transistors on a microprocessor continues to double every 18 months, then soon we will find the circuits on a microprocessor being measured on an atomic scale. Today's advanced lithographic techniques can squeeze fraction of micron wide logic gates and wires onto the surface of silicon chips. Thus it can be seen that very soon we will be facing the need to create quantum computers which can harness the power of atoms and molecules to perform memory and processing tasks. Quantum computers have the potential to perform calculations a billion times faster than any silicon-based computer. Also, theories suggest that every physical object, even the universe, is in some sense a quantum computer. If this is the case, then according to Turing's work which says that all computers are functionally equivalent; computers should be able to model every physical process. Scientists have already built basic quantum computers that can perform certain calculations; but a practical quantum computer is still years away. In this paper, we will be discussing about the history, development and the future scope of quantum computing. The pros and cons of this future technology have also been compared and our analysis has been put forth.

Quantum computer architectures: A survey

Saumya Jain

Computers reduce human effort and also focus on increasing the performance to push the technology forward. Many approaches have been devised to increase the performance of the computers. One such way is to reduce the size of the transistors used in the systems. Another very significant tactic is to use quantum computers. It proved to be very effective when used to factor large numbers. It was found that it could decrypt codes in 20 minutes which took billions of years with classical computers. This was a great motivation for focusing on this topic. A quantum computer allows a ‘quantum bit’ or qubit to have three states − 0, 1, and 0 or 1. The last state is the coherent state. This enables an operation to be performed on two diverse values at the same time. However, this brings out a problem of decoherence. It becomes difficult to perform the computation using quantum computers. A quantum computer is desired to have five capabilities - scalable system, initializable state, long decoherence time, universal set of quantum gates, high efficiency measurements. Architecture of the quantum computer is the new research area. It is affected by quantum arithmetic, error management, and cluster-state computing. Without it, the quantum algorithms would not prove to be as efficient. To fully utilize the power of a quantum computer, the algorithms used should be based on quantum parallelism. This paper discusses a few of the basic concepts used in quantum computing briefly. The paper also focuses on different architectures of quantum computer available in literature. However, the problem of a practical large-scale quantum computer still persists.

Pallab Banerjee, Kamal Kishore, Kanika Thakur +2 more

The pace with which technology is developing is increasing day by day. Depending on the various types of computer architecture different types of computers are being developed every day which are used as smart computers nowadays. In this paper, we are going to focus on Quantum computers along with their architectures. Quantum computers are like supercomputers that can solve a lot of problems in a very short span of time which is not possible by standard computers. In comparison to microcomputers, it is hundred times quicker. Its foundation is quantum physics.

A Study on the Architecture of Quantum Computers

Jeneetha Jebanazer, Rryan J, Anirudh Vasudevan

Computers minimise human effort while also focusing on improving efficiency in order to advance technology. To improve machine efficiency, a variety of methods have been invented. Reducing the size of the transistors used in the systems is one such process. The use of quantum computers is another important strategy. When used to factor large numbers, it proved to be very accurate. It was discovered that it could decode codes in 20 minutes, while traditional computers took billions of years. This provided excellent motivation for concentrating on this topic. A quantum machine may have three states for a quantum bit, or qubit: 0, 1, and 0 or 1.The coherent state is the final state. This allows you to perform an operation on two different values at the same time. This, however, raises the issue of decoherence. Using quantum computers to perform the computation becomes difficult. A quantum computer should have five features: a scalable device, an initializable state, a long decoherence time, a universal set of quantum gates, and high measurement efficiency. The architecture of quantum computers is a new field of research. Quantum arithmetic, error management, and cluster-state computing also have an effect on it. The quantum algorithms would not be as effective without it. The algorithms used should be based on quantum parallelism to completely harness the power of a quantum computer. This paper briefly explores a few of the fundamental principles in quantum computing. The paper also looks at the various quantum computer architectures that have been proposed in the literature. The problem of building a functional large-scale quantum computer, however, remains unsolved.

What is Quantum Computing?

Ahmed Banafa

Quantum computing is the area of study focused on developing computer technology based on the principles of quantum theory. The quantum computer, following the laws of quantum physics, would gain enormous processing power through the ability to be in multiple states and to perform tasks using all possible permutations simultaneously. Classical computing relies, at its ultimate level, on principles expressed by Boolean algebra. Data must be processed in an exclusive binary state at any point in time or bits. While the time that each transistor or capacitor needs to be either in 0 or 1 before switching states is now measurable in billionths of a second, there is still a limit as to how quickly these devices can be made to switch state. As the authors progress to smaller and faster circuits, they begin to reach the physical limits of materials and the threshold for classical laws of physics to apply. Beyond this, the quantum world takes over.
