Facets of Correlated Non‐Markovian Channels

Vivek Balasaheb Sabale, Nihar Ranjan Dash, Atul Kumar +1 more

Abstract The domain of correlated non‐Markovian channels are investigated, exploring the potential memory arising from the correlated action of channels and the inherent memory due to non‐Markovian dynamics. The impact of channel correlations is studied using different non‐Markovianity indicators and measures. In addition, the dynamical aspects of correlated non‐Markovian channels, including entanglement dynamics as well as changes in the volume of accessible states, are explored. The analysis is presented for both unital and non‐unital correlated channels. A new correlated channel constructed with modified Ornstein–Uhlenbeck noise (OUN) is also presented and explored. Further, the geometrical effects of the non‐Markovianity of the correlated non‐Markovian channels are discussed with a study of change in the volume of the accessible states. The link between the correlation factor and error correction success probability is highlighted.

Comparative study of non-Markovianity measures in exactly solvable one- and two-qubit models

Carole Addis, Bogna Bylicka, Dariusz Chruściński +1 more

In this paper we present a detailed critical study of several recently proposed non-Markovianity measures. We analyze their properties for single-qubit and two-qubit systems in both pure-dephasing and dissipative scenarios. More specifically we investigate and compare their computability, their physical meaning, their Markovian to non-Markovian crossover, and their additivity properties with respect to the number of qubits. The bottom-up approach that we pursue is aimed at identifying similarities and differences in the behavior of non-Markovianity indicators in several paradigmatic open system models. This, in turn, allows us to infer the leading traits of the variegated phenomenon known as non-Markovian dynamics.

Revealing memory effects in phase-covariant quantum master equations

J Teittinen, H Lyyra, B Sokolov +1 more

We study and compare the sensitivity of multiple non-Markovianity indicators for a qubit subjected to general phase-covariant noise. For each of the indicators, we derive analytical conditions to detect the dynamics as non-Markovian. We present these conditions as relations between the time-dependent decay rates for the general open system dynamics and its commutative and unital subclasses. These relations tell directly if the dynamics is non-Markovian w.r.t. each indicator, without the need to explicitly derive and specify the analytic form of the time-dependent coefficients. Moreover, with a shift in perspective, we show that if one assumes only the general form of the master equation, measuring the non-Markovianity indicators gives us directly non-trivial information on the relations between the unknown decay rates.
