Abstract

This letter designs a correlation-based secure beamformer for correlated multiple-input-single-output wiretap channels with multiple noncollaborating passive single-antenna eavesdroppers. The outage-probability-constrained secrecy rate maximization problem is investigated under the assumption that the source has accurate main channel information and statistical wiretap channel information. As the correlation provides some useful information, a more precise statistical distribution of the wiretap channel can be obtained, with which a closed-form expression for the secrecy outage probability is derived and a specific secure beamformer is designed. Simulation results show that the secrecy rate under the transmit power and secrecy outage constraints is improved.

Robust Beamforming Design for Correlated MISO Wiretap Channels Under Channel Uncertainty

Sai Xu, Shuai Han, Weixiao Meng +2 more

This letter designs a robust beamformer for correlated multiple-input-single-output wiretap channels with multiple noncollaborating passive single-antenna eavesdroppers under channel uncertainty. Assuming that the source has only partial main channel information and statistical wiretap channel information, we seek to maximize the secrecy rate under the transmit power and secrecy outage constraints. To enhance security, the correlation between the main and wiretap channels, as a resource, is fully utilized to optimize the secure beamformer. Simulation results show that the secrecy rate is improved significantly under the transmit power and secrecy outage constraints.

Channel-Correlation-Enabled Transmission Optimization for MISO Wiretap Channels

Shuai Han, Sai Xu, Weixiao Meng +1 more

An artificial noise (AN)-aided beamformer specific to correlated main and wiretap channels is designed in this paper. We consider slow-fading multiple-input-single-output wiretap channels with multiple passive single-antenna eavesdroppers in which an independent transmitter side and correlated receiver side are assumed. Additionally, the source has accurate main channel information and statistical wiretap channel information. To reduce the secrecy loss due to receiver-side correlation, this paper proposes a channel-correlation-enabled transmission optimization scheme. In particular, the correlation is viewed as a resource to acquire more knowledge about wiretap channels. Based on this, the statistical distribution of wiretap channels is described more precisely, and an elaborate channel-correlation-enabled AN-aided beamformer is designed. Then, the achievable secrecy rate under transmit power and secrecy outage constraints is derived. Finally, the study is also extended to a specific scenario of multiple-antenna eavesdroppers. Simulation results show that the secrecy rate under transmit power and secrecy outage constraints can be improved under high correlation.

AN-Aided Secure Beamforming Design for Correlated MISO Wiretap Channels

Sai Xu, Shuai Han, Yanan Du +3 more

An artificial-noise (AN)-aided beamformer for reducing secrecy loss due to the correlation between the main and wiretap channels is designed in this letter. We consider slow-fading multiple-input-single-output wiretap channels with a passive single-antenna eavesdropper, where the source has accurate main channel information and statistical wiretap channel information. By exploiting the channel correlation, the power of the AN in the null space of the main channel can be placed more reasonably instead of using a simple uniform distribution. Then, an efficient algorithm for power allocation between the information-bearing signal and the AN is developed. The simulation results show that the secrecy rate under the transmit power and secrecy outage constraint is improved.

Outage Constrained Robust Secure Transmission for MISO Wiretap Channels

Shuai Ma, Mingyi Hong, Enbin Song +2 more

In this paper, we consider the robust secure beamformer design for multiple-input-single-output wiretap channels. Assuming that the eavesdroppers' channels are only partially available at the transmitter, we seek to maximize the secrecy rate under the transmit power and the secrecy rate outage probability constraint. The outage probability constraint requires that the secrecy rate exceed certain thresholds with high probability. Therefore, including such constraint in the design naturally ensures the desired robustness. Unfortunately, the presence of the probabilistic constraints makes the problem nonconvex and, hence, difficult to solve. In this paper, we investigate the outage probability constrained secrecy rate maximization problem using a novel two-step approach. Under a wide range of uncertainty models, our developed algorithms can obtain high-quality solutions, sometimes even exact global solutions, for the robust secure beamformer design problem. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed algorithms.

A Closed-Form Power Allocation for Minimizing Secrecy Outage Probability for MISO Wiretap Channels via Masked Beamforming

Jun Xiong, Kai‐Kit Wong, Dongtang Ma +1 more

In this letter, we aim to achieve secure communication for a multiple-input single-output (MISO) wiretap channel in the presence of multiple non-colluding eavesdroppers. It is assumed that the eavesdroppers' channels are unavailable to the transmitter, and artificial noise (AN) is used to provide masked beamforming for degrading the eavesdroppers' channels. First, we derive the secrecy rate outage probability for the masked beamforming system and then the optimal power allocation between data and AN is obtained in closed form for minimizing the secrecy rate outage probability under a total power constraint. The effects of the number of transmit antennas, the transmit power, and the target secrecy rate on the optimal power allocation parameter are characterized. Numerical results are presented to show the performance of our proposed power allocation scheme.
