Telecommunication of a Secure Data in Optical Fiber

Arwa A. Moosa, May Hattim Abood

One of the most important issue in networking is the tremendous demand for a huge bandwidth with a great security. Optical network is an efficient telecommunications networks used to transfer data with great facilities. To provide an additional capacity for higher bandwidth, different frequencies and longer distance, optical Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA) will be used. To transfer data securely, an important encryption method RC4 will be used to protect data on the common channel as it’s cryptographic technique is faster, simpler to implement and the keystream is a arbitrary sequence of bits which guarantees the security of used cipher. MATLAB program will used to encrypt and decrypt the image with transferring it optically by Optisystem simulation program.

The basis for today's telecommunication services lies in optical data transfer. This paper presents optical telecommunication networks which use light impulses that travels through optical fiber. These networks ensure the transmission of large amounts of data at very long distances, which is a necessity in modern application. Given that optical networks provide the ability to transfer huge amounts of data, their transmission needs to be secured in the event of unauthorized actions. Optical network security can be achieved by using some of the previously developed cryptographic algorithms. As security requirements develop on a daily basis, finding a better and more acceptable solutions for ensuring security in optical telecomunication networks is a difficult work but a necessary one.

A Review on Secure Communication in Fiber-Optic Networks

T.Naga Jyothi

Fiber optic systems are important telecommunication infrastructure for world-wide broadband networks. Wide bandwidth signal transmission with low delay is a key requirement in present day applications. Optical fibers provide enormous and unsurpassed transmission bandwidth with negligible latency, and are now the transmission medium of choice for long distance and high data rate transmission in telecommunication networks. This paper gives an overview of fiber optic communication systems including their key technologies, and also discusses their technological trend towards the next generation
