Abstract

We consider quantum graphs providing reflectionless wave transmission at the vertices.Imposing Kuska's version of so-called absorbing boundary conditions we derive the constraints, which make usual continuity and Kirchhoff conditions equivalent to transparent boundary conditions.

Driven transparent quantum graphs

Abstract In this paper, we discuss the concept of quantum graphs with transparent vertices by considering the case, where the graph interacts with an external time-independent field. In particular, we address the problem of transparent boundary conditions for quantum graphs, building on previous works on transparent boundary conditions for the stationary Schrödinger equation on a line. Physically relevant constraints that make the vertex transparent under boundary conditions in the form of (weight) continuity and Kirchhoff rules are derived using two approaches, where transparent boundary conditions for the time-independent Schrödinger equation are found. The latter is derived by extending the transparent boundary condition concept to the time-independent Schrödinger equation on driven quantum graphs. For the constant potential, these constraints are also obtained using the scattering approach. We also discuss how the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of a quantum graph are influenced not only by its topology, but also by the shape/type of a potential when an external field is involved.

PT-symmetric quantum graphs

D U Matrasulov, K.K. Sabirov, J R Yusupov

Abstract We consider PT-symmetric quantum graphs, in which the branching points provide PT-symmetric boundary conditions for the Schrödinger equation on a graph. For such branched quantum wires, we derive general boundary conditions, which keep the Hamiltonian as PT-symmetric with real eigenvalues and positively defined norm of the eigenfunctions. Secular equations for finding the eigenvalues of the quantum graph are derived. Breaking the Kirchhoff rule at the branching points in such systems is shown. Experimental realization of PT-symmetric quantum graphs on branched optical waveguides is discussed.

Transparent boundary conditions for the spatially discrete Schrödinger equation: Reflectionless quantum transport in 1D lattices

Mashrab E. Akramov, Jambul R. Yusupov, Matthias Ehrhardt +1 more

We construct exact transparent boundary conditions (TBCs) for a time-continuous, spatially discrete Schrödinger equation that models a one-dimensional quantum lattice. Using a recently developed exact solution for the discrete system, we derive the Dirichlet-to-Neumann maps analytically via Laplace transforms. This yields a convolution-type boundary condition governed by Bessel functions. We rigorously demonstrate the consistency of this discrete formulation with its continuous counterpart in the continuum limit. Additionally, we present an efficient time-discretization scheme based on the trapezoidal rule for practical implementation. Numerical experiments using a Crank-Nicolson solver verify that our proposed TBCs eliminate spurious backscattering entirely and preserve reflectionless propagation of a Gaussian wave packet exiting the computational domain

The Green function for simplest quantum graphs

K.K. Sabirov, U. A. Aminov, Kh.Sh. Saparov +2 more

We treat the problem of the Green function for quantum graphs by focusing on such topologies as star and tree graphs. The exact Green function for the Schrödinger equation on primary star graphs is derived in the form of 3 × 3-matrix using the vertex boundary conditions providing continuity and current conservation.Extension of the approach for the derivation for the Green function on tree graph is presented.Possible practical applications of the obtained results are discussed.
