Quasi doubly stochastic operator on l1 and Nielsen’s theorem

Abstract

In this paper, we introduce the quasidoubly stochastic operator, which is between doubly stochastic operators and column stochastic operators, so as to apply to characterized operator S on l1 such that Sf is majorized by f for every f ∈ l1. We present some classes of majorization preservers on l1 under quasi doubly stochastic operators. Moreover, as an application of our result in quantum physics, the convertibility of pure states of a composite system by local operations and classical communication has been considered.

Characterization and Preservation of Majorization on $L^1(X)$ with Some Applications in Quantum Information Theory

Seyed Mahmoud Manjegani, Shirin Moein

This work devoted to extension of majorization based on semi doubly stochastic operators(denoted by $S\mathcal{D}(L^1)$) as a subclass of Markov operators but a larger class of doubly stochastic operator to $L^1(X)$ when $X$ is a $\sigma$-finite measure space. We fully describe why such as these operators are more suitable for generalizing majorization relation. By using semi doubly stochastic operators we refuse Hiai's conjecture\cite{Hiai} and answer affirmatively to Mirsky's question\cite{Mirsky} about extension of doubly stochastic matrix to infinite dimension as an infinite continuous counterpart of Hardy, Littlewood and P{\'o}lya's characterization of majorization. We collect a number of results of semi doubly stochastic operators such as equi-integrability of $\{Sf:~~S\in S\mathcal{D}(L^1)\}$ when $f$ is a fix element in $L^1(X)$ and consequently relatively weakly compact, and also strong relation of semi doubly stochastic operators and integral stochastic operators. Motivation of our work is application in quantum information theory like Nielson's Theorem, Uhlmann's Theorem and convertibility via incoherent operation. We explain extension of Uhlmann's Theorem to infinite dimension by means of semi doubly stochastic operators which leads to a quantum interpretation of majorization preserver. We introduce three types of maps which preserve majorization.

On the Quasi-Balanceable Class of Linear Quantum Stochastic Systems

Onvaree Techakesari, Hendra I. Nurdin

This paper concerns the recently proposed quasi-balanced truncation model reduction method for linear quantum stochastic systems. It has previously been shown that the quasi-balanceable class of systems (i.e. systems that can be truncated via the quasi-balanced method) includes the class of completely passive systems. In this work, we refine the previously established characterization of quasi-balanceable systems and show that the class of quasi-balanceable systems is strictly larger than the class of completely passive systems. In particular, we derive a novel characterization of completely passive linear quantum stochastic systems solely in terms of the controllability Gramian of such systems. Exploiting this result, we prove that all linear quantum stochastic systems with a pure Gaussian steady-state (active systems included) are all quasi-balanceable, and establish a new complete parameterization for this important class of systems. Examples are provided to illustrate our results.

LOCC convertibility of entangled states in infinite-dimensional systems

César Massri, Guido Bellomo, Héctor Freytes +3 more

Abstract We advance on the conversion of bipartite quantum states via local operations and classical communication (LOCC) for infinite-dimensional systems. We introduce δ-LOCC convertibility based on the observation that any pure state can be approximated by a state with finite-support Schmidt coefficients. We show that δ-LOCC convertibility of bipartite states is fully characterized by a majorization relation between the sequences of squared Schmidt coefficients, providing a novel extension of Nielsen’s theorem for infinite-dimensional systems. Hence, our definition is equivalent to the one of ε-LOCC convertibility (Owari et al 2008 Quantum Inf. Comput. 8 0030), but deals with states having finitely supported sequences of Schmidt coefficients. Additionally, we discuss the notions of optimal common resource and optimal common product in this scenario. The optimal common product always exists, whereas the optimal common resource depends on the existence of a common resource. This highlights a distinction between the resource-theoretic aspects of finite versus infinite-dimensional systems. Our results rely on the order-theoretic properties of majorization for infinite sequences, applicable beyond the LOCC convertibility problem.

Bistochastic operators and quantum random variables

Sarah Plosker, Christopher Ramsey

Given a positive operator-valued measure $ν$ acting on the Borel sets of a locally compact Hausdorff space $X$, with outcomes in the algebra $\mathcal B(\mathcal H)$ of all bounded operators on a (possibly infinite-dimensional) Hilbert space $\mathcal H$, one can consider $ν$-integrable functions $X\rightarrow \mathcal B(\mathcal H)$ that are positive quantum random variables. We define a seminorm on the span of such functions which in the quotient leads to a Banach space. We consider bistochastic operators acting on this space and majorization of quantum random variables is then defined with respect to these operators. As in classical majorization theory, we relate majorization in this context to an inequality involving all possible convex functions of a certain type. Unlike the classical setting, continuity and convergence issues arise throughout the work.

Volume of the set of LOCC-convertible quantum states

Fabio Deelan Cunden, Paolo Facchi A, Giuseppe Florio +1 more

Abstract The class of quantum operations known as local operations and classical communication (LOCC) induces a partial ordering on quantum states. We present the results of systematic numerical computations related to the volume (with respect to the unitarily invariant measure) of the set of LOCC-convertible bipartite pure states, where the ordering is characterised by an algebraic relation known as majorization. The numerical results, which exploit a tridiagonal model of random matrices, provide quantitative evidence that the proportion of LOCC-convertible pairs vanishes in the limit of large dimensions, and therefore support a previous conjecture by Nielsen. In particular, we show that the problem is equivalent to the persistence of a non-Markovian stochastic process and the proportion of LOCC-convertible pairs decays algebraically with a nontrivial persistence exponent. We extend this analysis by investigating the distribution of the maximal success probability of LOCC-conversions. We show a dichotomy in behaviour between balanced and unbalanced bipartitions. In the latter case the asymptotics is somehow surprising: in the limit of large dimensions, for the overwhelming majority of pairs of states a perfect LOCC-conversion is not possible; nevertheless, for most states there exist local strategies that succeed in achieving the conversion with a probability arbitrarily close to one. We present strong evidence of a universal scaling limit for the maximal probability of successful LOCC-conversions and we suggest a connection with the typical fluctuations of the smallest eigenvalue of Wishart random matrices.

Quasi-inversion of quantum and classical channels in finite dimensions

Fereshte Shahbeigi, Koorosh Sadri, Morteza Moradi +2 more

Abstract We introduce the concept of quasi-inverse of quantum and classical channels, prove general properties of these inverses and determine them for a large class of channels acting in an arbitrary finite dimension. Therefore we extend the previous results of Karimipour et al (2020 Phys. Rev. A 101 032109) to arbitrary dimensional channels and to the classical domain. We demonstrate how application of the proposed scheme can increase on the average the fidelity between a given random pure state and its image transformed by the quantum channel followed by its quasi-inversion.
