Abstract

There has been enormous attention in quantum algorithms for reinforcing machine learning (ML) algorithms. In the current paper, we present quantum neural networks (QNNs) and a method of training which is well in quantum system and is improved with momentum accession and parameter self adaptive algorithm, and we build a new financial risk forecasting model. We apply this model to the empirical research on the financial risk forecasting of some Moroccan companies. Then we will compare the findings with the standard artificial neural network (ANNs).

Improved financial forecasting via quantum machine learning

Sohum Thakkar, Skander Kazdaghli, Natansh Mathur +3 more

Abstract Quantum algorithms have the potential to enhance machine learning across a variety of domains and applications. In this work, we show how quantum machine learning can be used to improve financial forecasting. First, we use classical and quantum Determinantal Point Processes to enhance Random Forest models for churn prediction, improving precision by almost 6%. Second, we design quantum neural network architectures with orthogonal and compound layers for credit risk assessment, which match classical performance with significantly fewer parameters. Our results demonstrate that leveraging quantum ideas can effectively enhance the performance of machine learning, both today as quantum-inspired classical ML solutions, and even more in the future, with the advent of better quantum hardware.

Time series forecasting with Qubit Neural Networks

Carlos R. B. Azevedo, Tiago A. E. Ferreira

This paper proposes a quantum learning scheme approach for time series forecasting, through the application of the new non-standard Qubit Neural Network (QNN) model. The QNN description was adapted in this work in order to resemble classical Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). Three stock market series were predicted. The results are discussed over several statistics and are compared with ANNs experiments with equivalent degrees of freedom.

Quantum inspired qubit qutrit neural networks for real time financial forecasting

Kanishk Bakshi, Kathiravan Srinivasan

This research investigates the performance and efficacy of machine learning models in stock prediction, comparing Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), Quantum Qubit-based Neural Networks (QQBNs), and Quantum Qutrit-based Neural Networks (QQTNs). By outlining methodologies, architectures, and training procedures, the study highlights significant differences in training times and performance metrics across models. While all models demonstrate robust accuracies above 70%, the Quantum Qutrit-based Neural Network consistently outperforms with advantages in risk-adjusted returns, measured by the Sharpe ratio, greater consistency in prediction quality through the Information Coefficient, and enhanced robustness under varying market conditions. The QQTN not only surpasses its classical and qubit-based counterparts in multiple quantitative and qualitative metrics but also achieves comparable performance with significantly reduced training times. These results showcase the promising prospects of Quantum Qutrit-based Neural Networks in practical financial applications, where real-time processing is critical. By achieving superior accuracy, efficiency, and adaptability, the proposed models underscore the transformative potential of quantum-inspired approaches, paving the way for their integration into computationally intensive fields.

Systematic Review on the Influence of Classical and Quantum Machine Learning in the Financial Sector

Gunaleswaran Murugaraj, Ramanan Krishnan, Leelavathi Harikrishnan +1 more

In the financial sector, machine learning (ML) has emerged as a transformative technology that provides sophisticated solutions to critical challenges, such as in fraud detection, anti-money laundering, algorithmic trading, credit scoring, and financial forecasting. ML significantly improves the accuracy, speed, and efficacy of decision-making processes by using sophisticated algorithms and large datasets. Nevertheless, its integration into financial systems presents significant obstacles such as cybersecurity threats, regulatory compliance, and data quality concerns. Building on these developments, this review examines the emergence of quantum machine learning (QML), an approach that integrates quantum-computation principles with intelligent financial systems. QML exploits quantum phenomena, including superposition, entanglement, and parallelism, to overcome the computational constraints encountered in classical ML. Applications such as quantum support vector machines (QSVMs), quantum neural networks (QNNs), and quantum clustering are examined in the context of fraud detection, portfolio optimization, and market forecasting. In contrast to previous reviews, this study provides a comparative and integrative analysis of ML and QML in the financial domain. It highlights the current technical limitations and emergent hybrid quantum classical models, emphasizing strategic directions for future research. In addition, we suggest a new framework for assessing the suitability of QML in practical financial applications, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical potential and real-world deployment. This review not only consolidates recent advancements but also establishes the foundation for the next iteration of intelligent financial systems powered by quantum-enhanced technologies. • Quantum Machine Learning (QML) leverages unique quantum properties like superposition, entanglement, and parallelism to overcome the computational limitations of traditional ML approaches. • Techniques such as Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVM), Quantum Neural Networks (QNN), and quantum clustering demonstrate significant advancements in efficiency and accuracy for financial applications. • QML showcases transformative potential in solving complex financial problems, including fraud detection, portfolio optimization, and market forecasting, with greater accuracy and computational efficiency. • The potential for hybrid quantum-classical models to stabilize hardware and advance quantum algorithms offers a pathway to overcome current limitations, paving the way for scalable and robust financial systems.

Quantum Machine Learning Architectures for Stock Market Forecasting, Anomaly Detection, and Pattern Recognition in Financial Time Series

Tugan Başaran

Financial markets generate complex, high-dimensional time series characterized by nonlinearity, noise, and structural uncertainty, posing persistent challenges for classical machine learning and statistical forecasting models. This paper examines quantum machine learning (QML) architectures for stock market forecasting, anomaly detection, and pattern recognition in financial time series. By leveraging quantum phenomena such as superposition, entanglement, and quantum-enhanced feature spaces, QML models offer new computational paradigms for capturing intricate market dynamics and latent structures. The study synthesizes recent advances in quantum neural networks, variational quantum circuits, and hybrid quantum–classical models, evaluating their applicability to predictive modeling and risk-sensitive detection tasks in finance. The paper argues that QML architectures have the potential to complement classical approaches by improving representational capacity and scalability for complex financial data, while also outlining current technical limitations and research directions necessary for practical deployment.
