Diffraction Experiment Demonstrates Photon’s Path

Abstract

Wave models of light suggest the waves from a slit expand like a fan and interfere with other waves through the slit.A photon model of light with a computer simulation suggests the photons through a slit cross to the other side of centerline to reach the screen.A diffraction experiment is performed with a light filter that reduces the intensity of light on one side of a slit. This experiment demonstrates that the reduced intensity caused by the filter appears on the side of the image opposite to the side with the filter. Therefore, the crossing pattern predicted by a photon computer simulation is supported and the traditional wave models are rejected.

Diffraction Experiment and Its Stoe Photon Simulation Program Rejects Wave Models of Light

John Hodge

The interpretation of Young's double slit experiment of diffraction and interference remains controversial. The Scalar Theory of Everything (STOE) model of single photon diffraction is a model with photons being directed by plenum forces as Newton speculated. The STOE simulation of the light diffraction experiments produces the Fraunhofer diffraction pattern on the screen. An experiment used an image resulting from a single slit projected onto a second mask. If the second mask slit is placed at the center of the image, a Fraunhofer diffraction pattern is projected onto the screen. One side of a slit in the minima examined the result of varying the intensity of the illumination across the slit. One slit of two in the minima examined the result of only one of the double slits being illuminated. The resultant patterns on a screen were photographed and are on the opposite side of center from the illuminated side of the second mask. The STOE simulation reproduced the images. The STOE explains several quantum peculiarities with classical processes. These observations do not reject the Newtonian model of diffraction and does reject wave models.

Interference Experiment with a Transparent Mask Rejects Wave Models of Light

John Hodge

Young’s double-slit experiment shows characteristics of light that are modeled as indicating a wave nature of light. Other experiments suggest a particle model of light. An experiment is performed with the Fraunhofer pattern from a first mask impinging on a transparent second mask with a slit. The screen pattern is an interference pattern such as produced in Young’s Experiment. An opaque strip between the first and second mask blocks the light of the center maxima from the first mask. The screen interference fringes remained. Moving the glass mask so the slit is removed from light shows the necessity of a slit in the second mask. This suggests a Newtonian type of light model. This experiment rejects the wave models of light.

On New Phenomena of Photon from Modified Double Slit Experiment

Haisheng Liu

A modified double slit experiment of light was implemented. In the experiment, a spatial shape filter is used to manipulate the shape of cross section of laser beam. When this modified laser beam was shined on the double slit, the intensity distribution of laser beam on double slit is asymmetrical. In this way, the laser light was directed to pass through only one or two slits of double slit in different sections. So the which-way information is predetermined before the photons pass through the slits. At the same time, the visible interference pattern can be observed on a monitor screen after the double slit. A couple of new phenomena had been observed from this experiment. The results of this experiment raise questions about Wave-Particle Duality model of quantum theory, which is the foundation for the Copenhagen explanation that is generally regarded as the principal interpretation of quantum theory. As the observed properties from this experiment cannot be fully explained using the quantum theory, especially the Copenhagen explanation, a new model of photon is proposed. The new model for photon should be also applicable to all other micro entity like electron, atoms, molecules etc., according to L. de Broglie assumption.

Photon Diffraction and Interference

John Hodge

Some observations of light are inconsistent with a wave--like model. Other observations of light are inconsistent with a traditional particle--like model. A single model of light has remained a mystery. Newton's speculations, Democritus's speculations, the Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics, and the fractal philosophy are combined. The resulting model of photon structure and dynamics is tested by toy computer experiments. The simulations include photons from a distance, in Young's experiment, and from a laser. The patterns on the screens show diffraction patterns fit by the Fresnel equation. The model is consistent with the Afshar experiment.

Partial Interference Pattern --- Photons Propagating Along Straight-Lines in Double Slit Experiment

hui peng

Young’s double slit experiments have been interpretated by the optical wave theory. The observation of the wave behavior of the light near the detecting screen has long history. Recently we have shown the particle nature of the light near the detecting screen (the far field) in the wave experiments. In this article, we place two shields near the double slit to explore the nature of light. The experiment shows that, near the double slit, the light behaves as photons, propagates along the straight-line trajectories. The portion of the light, which directly passing through the channel formed by Shield-1 and Shield-2, produces the interference pattern at the central portion of the pattern. While the portions of the light, which are reflected multi-times by Shield-1 and Shield-2 respectively, produce the left pattern and the right pattern at the left-side and the right-side of the interference pattern respectively. The left pattern and the right pattern are not interference pattern. This novel double slit experiments provide comprehensive phenomena for further developing the theory to interpret the experiments.
