Abstract

An efficient scheme is proposed in this study to prepare four symmetric hyperentangled cluster states in the polarization degrees of freedom (DOF) and spatial DOF with a two-photon system. This system consists of two nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers which are coupled to two microtoroidal resonators. The two-photon polarization-spatial hyperentangled cluster states can be generated with our system by virtue of the input and output process. Compared with previous works, our quantum circuit for preparing the hyperentangled cluster states is simple and economic. Moreover, our scheme works deterministically and does not need any extra qubits, making it applicable to existing technologies. Our calculations show that our scheme has high fidelity with current technology, which can help hyperentangled cluster states to play a very useful role in quantum communication networks with long distances and high capacity.

Generation and complete nondestructive analysis of hyperentanglement assisted by nitrogen-vacancy centers in resonators

Qian Liu, Mei Zhang

We present two efficient schemes for the deterministic generation and the complete nondestructive analysis of hyperentangled Bell states in both the polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedom (DOF) of two-photon systems, assisted by the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamonds coupled to microtoroidal resonators as a result of cavity quantum electrodynamics. With the input-output process of photons, two-photon polarization-spatial hyperentangled Bell states can be generated in a deterministic way and their complete nondestructive analysis can be achieved. These schemes can be generalized to generate and analyze hyperentangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states of multiphoton systems as well. Compared with previous works, these two schemes relax the difficulty of their implementation in experiment as it is not difficult to obtain the $\ensuremath{\pi}$ phase shift in single-sided NV-cavity systems. Moreover, our schemes do not require that the transmission for the uncoupled cavity is balanceable with the reflectance for the coupled cavity. Our calculations show that these schemes can reach a high fidelity and efficiency with current technology, which may be a benefit to long-distance high-capacity quantum communication with two DOF of photon systems.

A scheme for preparing cluster state with nitrogen-vacancy centers and microtoroidal resonator coupled systems

Lizhi Yu, Tao Wu

Quantum entanglement is a key resource in quantum information processing. In this paper, we propose a scheme for preparing a cluster entangled state by means of multiple nitrogen vacancy centers and microtoroidal resonator coupled systems. The scheme employs an input–output process and single-photon interference, without any other auxiliary entanglement particles or classical communication. Considering the current experimental technology, the scheme will be implemented and has an important role in the preparation of cluster entangled state by means of nitrogen vacancy centers and microtoroidal resonator coupled systems.

Hyperentanglement purification for two-photon six-qubit quantum systems

Guan-Yu Wang, Qian Liu, Fu‐Guo Deng

Recently, two-photon six-qubit hyperentangled states were produced in experiment and they can improve the channel capacity of quantum communication largely. Here we present a scheme for the hyperentanglement purification of nonlocal two-photon systems in three degrees of freedom (DOFs), including the polarization, the first-longitudinal-momentum, and the second-longitudinal-momentum DOFs. Our hyperentanglement purification protocol (hyper-EPP) is constructed with two steps resorting to parity-check quantum nondemolition measurement on the three DOFs and swap gates, respectively. With these two steps, the bit-flip errors in the three DOFs can be corrected efficiently. Also, we show that using swap gates is a universal method for hyper-EPP in the polarization DOF and multiple-longitudinal-momentum DOFs. The implementation of our hyper-EPP is assisted by nitrogen-vacancy centers in optical microcavities, which could be achieved with current techniques. It is useful for long-distance high-capacity quantum communication with two-photon six-qubit hyperentanglement.

Parallel remote preparation of two-qubit hybrid states on four degrees of freedom via two-photon hyperentangled Bell state

Cheng‐Ming Huang, Yubin Huang, Ping Zhou

Preparing quantum state remotely plays an important role in quantum communication network. Most of the previous protocols for parallel preparation quantum state remotely only consider parallel remote preparation of arbitrary single-qubit states. In this paper, we propose a protocol for parallel remote preparation of two-qubit hybrid states with a two-photon hyperentangled state. The arbitrary two-qubit hybrid states encoded in spatial-mode, frequency, polarization and time-bin degrees of freedom(DOFs) can be remotely prepared via hyperentangled state and optical elements. Moreover, we discuss parallel remote preparation of two-qubit hybrid states via partially hyperentangled state. The protocol for parallel remote preparation of two-qubit hybrid states has the advantage of having high channel capacity for long distance quantum communication by using hyperentangled state simultaneously entangled in spatial-mode, frequency, polarization and time-bin DOFs as the quantum channel.

Hyperentanglement purification and concentration assisted by diamond NV centers inside photonic crystal cavities

Bao-Cang Ren, Fu-Guo Deng

Hyperentanglement has attracted much attention due to its fascinating applications in quantum communication. However, it is impossible to purify a pair of photon systems in a mixed hyperentangled state with errors in two degrees of freedom using linear optical elements only, far different from all the existing entanglement purification protocols in a degree of freedom (DOF) for quantum systems. Here, we investigate the possibility of purifying a spatial-polarization mixed hyperentangled Bell state with the errors in both the spatial-mode and polarization DOFs, resorting to the nonlinear optics of a nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in a diamond embedded in a photonic crystal cavity coupled to a waveguide. We present the first hyperentanglement purification protocol for purifying a pair of two-photon systems in a mixed hyperentangled Bell state with the errors in two DOFs. We also propose an efficient hyperentanglement concentration protocol for a partially hyperentangled Bell pure state, which has the maximal success probability in principle. These two protocols are useful in long-distance quantum communication with hyperentanglement.
