Introduction to Reversible Logic and Mathematical Derivation for V and V+ Gates

Amandeep Singh, Priya Sharma

Our computing era has been working long to get a solution for the problem of power dissipation in conventional digital circuitry.Towards this approach, reversible logic has received a significant attention in recent past.Power dissipation occurs due to the loss of information carrying bits during circuit simulation which consequently deteriorates the system performance.Reversible logic allows us to determine the outputs from the inputs and also the inputs can be appropriately recovered from the outputs by using one-to-one mapping. This results in reduced bit loss leading to reduced power dissipation.Reversible logic has been a research paradigm in the field of low-power CMOS, nanotechnology etc. This paper gives a brief description of few reversible logic gates and describes a mathematical derivation to verify how V and V+ gates are square root of NOT gate and Hermitian conjugate of V gate respectively, by using matrix manipulations.

An introduction to reversible circuit design

Robert Wille

After decades of continuous improvements and shrinking feature sizes, the development of conventional computing technologies faces enormous challenges. In particular, power dissipation in today's computer chips becomes crucial. Reversible computation is a promising alternative to these technologies, where power dissipation can be reduced or even eliminated. Furthermore, reversible logic builds the basis for quantum computation - a completely new way of processing which enables to solve certain problems exponentially faster compared to conventional methods. However, the design of reversible and quantum circuits is significantly different. Thus, new methods e.g. for synthesis, optimization, or verification are needed. This paper provides a brief introduction into reversible circuits and their respective design methods that have been proposed within the last years.

Introduction to Reversible Logic Gates and its Operations

Vivek Singh, K. B. Ramesh

Abstract: Reversible logic is one of the most important issues at the moment and has a wide range of applications, such as low power CMOS, quantum computing, nanotechnol- ogy, cryptography, optical computing, DNA computing, and -digital signal processing (DSP), quantum Dot automata for mobile, communication, computer graphics. It is not possible to detect quantum computing without the implementation of a postponed brain operation. The main objectives of design are logical thinking to reduce quantum costs, circuit depths and the amount of waste disposal. This paper provides basic logical retrospective gates, which in the construction of a highly sophisticated system with retractable circuits as part of the old and unable to perform the most complex operations using quantum computers. Reversible circuits form the basic building block of quantum computers as all quantum functions are reversed. This paper presents data related to older retractable gates found in books and assists research in the design of complex computer circuits using retractable gates. Keywords: Defendable Logic, Portable Gate, Dismissal, Trash, Quantum Cost, Quantum-dot Cellular Automata, Reversible Computing, Reversible ALU, Flip Flop using Reversible Gates, Reversible Adder
