Abstract The fact that the two main pillars of modern Physics are incompatible with each other; the fact that some unsolved problems have accumulated in Physics; and, in particular, the fact that Physics has been invaded by weird concepts (as if we were in the Middle Ages); these facts are quite sufficient to confirm the need for a new paradigm in Physics. But the conclusion that a new paradigm is needed is not sufficient, without an answer to the question: is there sufficient sources and resources to construct a new paradigm in Physics? I consider that the answer to this question is also yes. Today, Physics has sufficient material in experimental facts, theoretical achievements and human and technological potential. So, there is the need and opportunity for a new paradigm in Physics. The core of the new paradigm of Physics would be the nature of matter. According to this new paradigm, Physics should give up on wave-particle dualism, should redefine waves, and should end the mystery about light and its privilege in Physics. The consequences of this would make Physics more understandable, and - more importantly - would make it capable of solving current problems and opening up new perspectives in exploring nature and the universe.

This open access book chronicles the rise of a new scientific paradigm offering novel insights into the age-old enigmas of existence. Over 300 years ago, the human mind discovered the machine code of reality: mathematics. By utilizing abstract thought systems, humans began to decode the workings of the cosmos. From this understanding, the current scientific paradigm emerged, ultimately discovering the gift of technology. Today, however, our island of knowledge is surrounded by ever longer shores of ignorance. Science appears to have hit a dead end when confronted with the nature of reality and consciousness. In this fascinating and accessible volume, James Glattfelder explores a radical paradigm shift uncovering the ontology of reality. It is found to be information-theoretic and participatory, yielding a computational and programmable universe.
While physicists pursue the search for the Grand Unified Theory (GUT) and the expedition to find the Higgs that ought to solidify the Standard Model, philosophers keep inquiring as to what the nature of matter and mind might be and propose various theories. At first sight, the high energy physicist or the philosopher, both human, and the elementary particle seem to have nothing in common, however we contend and argue in this paper that we are looking at different scales of what constitutes universal behaviour and use Herman Dooyeweerd's theory of Modal Aspects to bridge the particle to the mind. To other than a physicist the dual nature of the atom or the so-called elementary particles may be difficult to comprehend and certainly appears unfathomable to intuit. This is due to the fact that the dual nature of matter finds its anchoring within the theoretical and mathematical frameworks provided by quantum mechanics, the latter tends to not be easily accessible to most individual's intuition. What would the consequences be if human nature itself had a dual character? We all know that human nature is both egoistic and altruistic, however it is not often that one considers the fact that egoism is an individual behaviour, while altruism is a collective behaviour. Likewise a particle is an individual manifestation of what we call matter, while wave nature can be considered characteristic of collective behaviour of the same matter.
Recent advances in experimental physics—the queen of reductionist science—aimed at solving the mysteries of the quantum world has led to a deepening of the mystery rather than easing it, dispelling the EPR paradox and pointing out a conceptional error in this now famous gedanken experiment, while lending some authority and validation to quantum mechanics. The strange features of the quantum world are founded on what Bohr dubbed complementarity, or the way a sub-particle entity can behave either as a wave or as a particle; and on Werner Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, which says that a quantum entity such as an electron does not avail itself to a deterministic exact measurement of both position and momentum simultaneously. Such postulates seem to contradict deeply held assumptions by the deterministic and materialistically oriented world of experimental physics where everything, including the atom, can be reduced to a single aspect. There are mounting calls for newer ways of understanding reality that are capable of handling these apparently strange incomprehensible phenomena revealed through the classical observation of the microscopic quantum world. There is also fundamental progress made in bouncing cosmology theories that bridge general relativity to quantum mechanics and provide some insight into the nature of the universe and its transition and pre-history through the big bang.
The thrust of this paper evolves around two pillars. One, is that that the apparent logical fissure emergent in reductionist thought, coming from orthodox science and the application of the scientific method that is manifest in what we know and do not understand in quantum mechanics, can be liaised to our intellectual understanding through the perspective offered by Herman Dooyeweerd's theory of Modal Aspects. The other, is the central and special role humans have in relation to the universe. Through this approach, we will argue that the dual nature of the atom or elementary particles is, rather than being a strange phenomenon, in fact an essential characteristic of what constitutes its nature
The concept of "reality" is often raised in the context of philosophical foundations of physics or interpretations of quantum mechanics. When this term is so raised, it is a warning to me that I am about to be led down a rabbit hole. Such diversions usually lead nowhere unless you consider endless discussions of Schrodinger's cat, wave function collapse, quantum non-locality, and parallel universes to be useful. A prime example is the famous Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen paper wherein they concluded that the quantum wave function cannot provide a complete description of physical reality. In this essay I suggest that, in physics discourse, the term "reality" should be avoided at all costs.
ABSTRACT Sanna-Maria Salmi Quantum phenomena changing the world? ̶ A descriptive literature review 116 p. December, 2018. Diaconia University of Applied Sciences Master’s Degree in Health Care Master of Social Services Master’s Degree Programme of Community Development, Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Quantum physics revolutionized our understanding of reality approximately a hundred years ago. The Newtonian classical, mechanistical paradigm was challenged by the quantum theory. The development in physics has often been unnoticed in the other sciences. It has been said that the mechanistical paradigm cannot solve the problems that humanity is facing. It has even been said that many of today’s problems are caused by the dualistic understanding of the human, society and reality. The aim of this research is to find out in which ways the paradigm shift in quantum physics has inspired the development of new ideas in social sciences and healthcare and in which ways these ideas could be used to shape the future. The goal of this thesis is to produce a concise, easily accessible, general view for the reader to gain an understanding of the “quantum” phenomena. If one so chooses, this could also provide tools for reflecting on one’s own worldview, the general western worldview, identity, work and organizations from this perspective. It could even provide inspiration to start working as a transformation agent in one’s own environment, in order to question the existing structures. The research was carried out using the descriptive literature review method. Research material was gathered from the several databases, and manual searches were also performed. The research material consists of one book, one book chapter a, doctoral dissertation and four articles. The material was analyzed using content-based content analysis. The results were separated to different categories: Quantum in social science, quantum in healthcare, quantum leadership, quantum theory in psychotherapy, quantum theory and human rights and the new holistic paradigm. Finally, a model of society, based on the unity, was created. The “quantum” has inspired researching new perspectives on almost everything in social sciences and nursing science. It could provide a new philosophical foundation, based on the unity of all. It personally challenges everybody to reflect on one’s own worldview, which builds a foundation in developing our society and institutions, which are basically created by human intentions. Consciousness is in a central role. When change is understood to be the nature of life, the perspective needs to change from processes to relationships. Leadership principles need to change accordingly, as leaders have a central role in the changemaking process. The concept of nature also gets a central role, as human beings are now a part of a system, instead of being the ruler of all. Keywords: Quantum, quantum theory, quantum entanglement, quantum social science, quantum leadership, quantum nursing, new paradigm, development, human rights, organisational change, self-awareness, global change, holism, dialogue, literature review.
