Quantum correlations in qutrit-like superposition of spin coherent states

Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we investigate quantum correlations in a qutrit-like superposition of spin coherent states. In particular, the quantum entanglement, the lower bound of the geometric measure of quantum discord, and the lower bound of local quantum uncertainty for the superposition of spin coherent states are examined, and their properties are characterized and compared. The specific dependence of these different correlation quantities on the spin of the system, the coefficient parameters, and the involved coherence parameters is found. As a part of this analysis, conditions for enhanced quantum correlations of qutrit-like superposition states have been identified, which exposes the characteristics of the states based on which the quantum correlations can be controlled and improved.

An Entanglement Study of Superposition of Qutrit Spin-Coherent States

Mojtaba Jafarpour

Considering generalized concurrence as the criterion of entanglement, we study entanglement properties of superposition of two qutrit coherent states, as a function of their amplitudes. These states may attain maximum entanglement or no entanglement at all, depending on the choice of the parameters involved. The states revealing maximum entanglement also display the maximum violations of the Bell-CHSH inequalities.

Local quantum uncertainty and non-commutativity measure discord in two-mode photon-added entangled coherent states

L. Jebli, Mohammed Daoud A

Abstract In this paper, we investigate quantum correlations in coherent entangled states with photons added, which are produced by the creation operator acting on Bell entangled coherent states. The non-classical characteristics of the quantum state created by combining two-mode coherent states with any number of photons are also taken into account. We provide explicit expressions fort he pairwise quantum correlations found in superpositions of coherent states with (m; n)-photon addition. A comparison between a non-commutativity discord-like measure and the evaluation of the local quantum uncertainty to measure quantum correlations is also produced. We consider some special superpositions of quasi-Bell entangled coherent photon-added states to be illustrative of our analytical findings. Additionally, investigated is the quantum correlations' evolution in a channel that is dephasing.

Quantum discord for a two-parameter class of states in 2⊗dquantum systems

Mazhar Ali

Quantum discord witnesses the nonclassicality of quantum states even when there is no entanglement in these quantum states. This type of quantum correlation also has some interesting and significant applications in quantum information processing. Quantum discord has been evaluated explicitly only for a certain class of two-qubit states. We extend the previous studies to 2⊗ d quantum systems and derive analytical expressions for quantum discord, classical correlation and entanglement for a two-parameter class of states for d ⩾ 3. We compare quantum discord, classical correlation and entanglement for qubit–qutrit systems to demonstrate that different measures of quantum correlation are not identical and conceptually different.

Characterizing quantum correlation with the correlated part of partial coherence

Chunhe Xiong, Sunho Kim, Daowen Qiu

One of the fundamental features of the quantum world that distinguishes it from the classical counterpart is the existence of quantum correlations. In this paper, we study the quantum correlation from the viewpoint of partial coherence. Partial coherence in a bipartite system often contains local coherence of a subsystem. By removing the local coherence, we show that the remaining part of partial coherence can be regarded as quantum correlations. In this way, we introduce two quantum correlations: partial correlated coherence (PCC) and minimal partial correlated coherence (MPCC). Furthermore, we prove that PCC and MPCC induced by contractive pseudodistances are good candidates of quantum correlations. For contractive pseudodistances, we also show that the induced geometric partial correlated coherence (GPCC) and geometric minimal partial correlated coherence are actually the upper and lower bound of corresponding geometric quantum discord. Particularly, GPCCs based on a family of distances are proved to be bona fide measures of quantum correlations. By connecting to local quantum uncertainty, we provide an operational meaning for geometric quantum discord and GPCC induced by affinity of distance.

Entanglement of formation and quantum discord in multipartite j-spin coherent states

H. Baba, W. Kaydi, Mohammed Daoud A +1 more

We study the entanglement of formation and the quantum discord contained in even and odd multipartite [Formula: see text]-spin coherent states. The key element of this investigation is the fact that a single [Formula: see text]-spin coherent state is viewed as comprising [Formula: see text] qubit states. We compute the quantum correlations present in the n even and odd [Formula: see text]-spin coherent states by considering all possible bipartite splits of the multipartite system. We discuss the different bi-partition schemes of quantum systems and we examine in detail the conservation rules governing the distribution of quantum correlations between the different qubits of the multipartite system. Finally, we derive the explicit expressions of quantum correlations present in even and odd spin coherent states decomposed in four spin sub-systems. We also analyze the properties of monogamy and we show in particular that the entanglement of the formation and the quantum discord obey the relation of monogamy only for even multipartite [Formula: see text]-spin coherent states.

Properties of quantum correlations in the Yang-Baxter spin-1/2 chain mode

Lidan Gou, Xiaoqian Wang

Quantum correlations among different parts of a composite quantum system are the fundamental resource of several applications in quantum information. In general, quantum discord can measure quantum correlations. In that way, the quantum correlations in the Yang-Baxter spin-1/2 chain mode are investigated. In the second part of the paper, the Yang-Baxter spin-1/2 chain modes are constructed from the Yang-Baxter equation. First, we analyze the two matrix representations of Temperly-Lieb algebra. Second, the two solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation are generated using the Yang-Baxterization. Finally, we can change the usual two-particle spin-1/2 chain to the Yang-Baxter spin-1/2 chain modes by means of the unitary Yang-Baxter matrix-R. In the third part, the density matrices of the two chain modes are generated in the thermal equilibrium state in a canonical ensemble. According to the definition of the geometric measure of quantum discord, the analytical expressions of the geometric measure of quantum discord, in the temperature and the external magnetic field, are obtained for the Yang-Baxter spin-1/2 chain modes. When the temperature and the magnetic field intensity increase, the geometric measure of quantum discord decreases. Under the specific conditions, the result of the second chain mode is similar to that of the first one. Then we obtain the numerical results of quantum discord, the geometric measure of quantum discord, and concurrence. It is found that the concurrence can quickly decrease to the value of zero when the temperature is greater than the value of one. At the same time, quantum discord and the geometric measure of quantum discord are not of the value of zero. Thus the quantum discord and the geometric measure of quantum discord can go beyond the concept of entanglement and obtain the “quantumness” of the correlations between the two parts of a system for the Yang-Baxter spin-1/2 chain modes. They are very good quantum resources for quantum information and quantum computing.
