Abstract

Abstract The possibility of effectively creating quantum gates based on polarization photon qubits using a Kerr nonlinear medium in a cavity is studied. It is shown how a quantum C-NOT gate can be produced with such qubits through four-wave mixing. A theory of this gate’s operation is constructed using an input–output formalism, and conditions of parametric matching are obtained for effective gate operation.

A Quantum Control NOT Gate Based on Four-Wave Mixing in a Cavity for Photonic Qubits with Orbital Angular Momentum

S. N. Andrianov, А. А. Калачев, O. P. Shindyaev +1 more

Abstract Photonic qubits with angular momentum states interacting in a medium with Kerr-type nonlinearity in a cavity are considered. The use of a quantum logic gate (a controlled NOT gate) in the process of four-wave mixing on such qubits is considered. A theory of the functioning of this gate is constructed using the input/output formalism. The conditions for matching the parameters that must be realized for the effective operation of the gate are obtained.

Controlled-NOT gate for frequency-encoded qubits based on six-wave mixing

S N Andrianov, А. А. Калачев, O. P. Shindyaev

Abstract The possibility of implementing a controlled-NOT gate for frequency-encoded photonic qubits via six-wave mixing in a multilevel atomic system is shown. Starting from the Hamiltonian for six-wave mixing in a cavity, equations of motion for the amplitudes of the photonic states are derived and solved in the framework of input–output formalism. Analysis of these solutions show how to realize two-qubit gates including relevant matching conditions.

Multi-qubit controlled NOT gates for artificial intelligence natural languages processing

Alexander Vasiliev, Farid Mansurovich Ablayev, Sergey N. Andrianov +2 more

Natural language processing is efficient using quantum neural networks including multiqubit controlled NOT gates with multiple control qubits and a single target qubit. We propose here a photonic miltiqubit controlled NOT gate based on a multi-wave mixing process in a cavity. Theory of such a multiqubit gate is constructed using input-output formalism. Parameters matching condition is found that must be fulfilled for successful gate operation. Recommendations are given for the construction of quantum neural networks that are able to solve various practical problems of natural language processing.

Generation of four-photon polarization entangled decoherence-free states with cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Meiyu Wang, Fengli Yan, Ting Gao

Abstract We propose a theoretical protocol for preparing four-photon polarization entangled decoherence-free states, which are immune to the collective noise. With the assistance of the cross-Kerr nonlinearities, a two-photon spatial entanglement gate, two controlled-NOT gates, a four-photon polarization entanglement gate are inserted into the circuit, where X homodyne measurements are aptly applied. Combined with some swap gates and simple linear optical elements, four-photon polarization entangled decoherence-free states which can be utilized to represent two logical qubits, |0〉L and |1〉L are achieved at the output ports of the circuit. This generation scheme may be implemented with current experimental techniques.

Implementation of a quantum phase gate by the optical Kerr effect

Scott Glancy, John M. LoSecco, Carol E. Tanner

We show that the optical Kerr effect can be used to construct a quantum phase gate. It is well known from quantum nondemolition techniques that, as two photon field modes pass through a Kerr medium, the phase of each mode will be shifted, and the size of the phase shift will depend on the number of photons in both modes. We discuss the Hamiltonian responsible for this effect and show how this can produce an effective photon-photon interaction which corresponds to the quantum phase gate operating on two qubits each of which is represented by the elliptical polarization of one photon field. We discuss decoherence and losses and suggest some methods for dealing with them.
