Abstract

In order to realize classical-quantum signals simultaneous transmission sharing a same fiber in quantum communication, it is proposed that signals are transmitted over multiple separate channels. The channels are divided by different wavelengths, pseudo-codes, and spatial modes. Based on the development status of quantum communication over optical fiber, this paper expounds the demand of quantum communication for multiplexing technology, and introduces the basic principle and research status of three existing multiplexing technologies. In this paper, the key technologies involved in the multiplexing system based on few mode fiber are discussed in depth, and the problems in signal transmission are analyzed.

Classical-quantum signals simultaneous transmission sharing a same fiber based on mode division multiplexing

Cong Chen, Min Hu, Banghon Guo

Quantum cryptography uses the basic principles of quantum physics to ensure the security of information transmission. In theory, it has unconditional security and can provide new technical guarantees for information security in various fields of society. In order to save the cost of deploying the QKD network, the QKD network can be combined with the existing classical communication network, so that the quantum signal and the classical signal can be transmitted through the same fiber. However, there are still many key technical problems in the fusion network of quantum communication and classical communication. This paper proposes a technique of classical-quantum signals simultaneous transmission sharing a same fiber based on mode division multiplexing. This scheme improves the problem that a large mode gain difference between different modes caused by EDFA and leads to a decrease in the transmission capacity of the system in the existing long distance mode division multiplexing transmission system.

GUILHERME BARRETO XAVIER, G. Lima

Abstract The optical fibre is an essential tool for our communication infrastructure since it is the main transmission channel for optical communications. The latest major advance in optical fibre technology is space-division multiplexing, where new fibre designs and components establish multiple co-existing data channels based on light propagation over distinct transverse optical modes. Simultaneously, there have been many recent developments in the field of quantum information processing, with novel protocols and devices in areas such as computing and communication. Here, we review recent results in quantum information based on space-division multiplexing optical fibres, and discuss new possibilities based on this technology.

Channel Multiplexing Scheme in Optical Networking for Quantum Key Distribution

Wang Yu-shua

In order to reduce construction cost of quantum key communication network, the quantum communication network in the environment of channel multiplexing is analyzed. Aiming at the current classical quantum channel multiplexing scheme, the schemes of wavelength isolation and the similar wavelength transmission are modeled respectively, and the system performances also simulated and calculated. Analysis shows that the scheme of wavelength isolation is fairly feasible, performs fairly well in short- haul communication, and is suitable for short- distance intensive local area network. The scheme of similar wavelength has a fairly high requirement of channels isolation and however, but it is more suitable for classical optical networks with even longer communication distance. And this could serve as a reference program for constructing quantum key metropolitan area network.

XU Xiao-fan

Quantum Communication technology, which achieved many unprecedented breakthroughs in the past several years,is arousing the attentions from related authoritative bodies and the field of communication research with its particular characteristic of perfect security in information transmission. Firstly, in this paper, the course of development and milestones of quantum communication theory and technologies are reviewed. And the state-of-the-art of domestic and foreign quantum communication technologies are summarized, with the conclusion that the technology tends to be mature, and China stands in the front row of the world both in quantum communication theory and experiments. Then, the definition and model of the ideal quantum communication system are discussed and engineering scenarios of quantum communication system based on optical fiber channel and free space optical channel are provided. The security and communication ability now achieved by these scenarios are analyzed, drawing such conclusion that quantum communication technologies has both high practical value and broad development space. Finally, realistic application scenarios and future application prospect of quantum communication technology are presented, in consideration of the requirements and current technology levels.

Mode Division Multiplexing Enhanced Quantum Key Distribution System for Next-Generation Networks

Cong Chen

With the rapid development of high-security applications such as finance, cloud computing, and key government services, network security issues have become increasingly prominent. Against this backdrop, quantum key distribution (QKD) technology has emerged as an important solution to address the security challenges of optical networks. Based on the principles of quantum mechanics, this technology can achieve unbreakable key distribution during communication, providing intrinsic security for the exchange of confidential information. It is currently one of the most promising long-term security protection technologies for optical networks.Due to the high cost of independently deploying quantum communication networks, integrating quantum channels with classical optical networks for transmission has become the most feasible solution at present. Meanwhile, the continuous development of technologies such as high-order modulation and wavelength division multiplexing has brought the transmission capacity of conventional single-mode fibers close to their theoretical Shannon limit, and mode division multiplexing(MDM) can effectively solve the problem of transmission capacity. However, quantum signals are highly susceptible to crosstalk caused by classical signals during the simultaneous transmission with classical signals. This paper conducts a simulation experiment on a quantum-classical fusion system based on MDM. The results show that the quantum signals are not significantly interfered with by the classical signals during simultaneous transmission, and this system is suitable as a simultaneous transmission scheme for large-scale networking of quantum secure communication.
