Graph codes are constructed from undirected graphs where the code symbols correspond to the edges and component codes are associated with the vertices. We investigate graph codes on multigraphs whereas previous work has mainly studied them on simple graphs. This paper proposes graph codes constructed from complete multipartite graphs as generalizations of block-wise product codes. The graph codes show better error-correcting performance in error-floor region compared with block-wise product codes. This paper also shows an efficient encoding method for the graph codes by employing Richardson and Urbanke's encoding algorithm for LDPC codes.

There are many algorithms to construct good low-density parity-check (LDPC) code, the most typical algorithms are bit-filling algorithm, randomly construction algorithm, and PEG (progressive edge growth) algorithm. As shown in [1], the error floor of LDPC Code is decreased by using PEG algorithm, but the error correction performance in waterfall region is compromised since a stopping set with small size will form the codeword with small Hamming weight over AWGN [2]. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to construct LDPC Codes. In our algorithm, we construct LDPC Code to avoid small girth and small stopping set by detecting the complete associated matrix of check node (defined in this paper) that converted from bipartite graph of LDPC Code based on the graph theory. Simulation shows that the LDPC code constructed by our algorithm has lower error floor than randomly constructed LDPC Code. The performance improvement of our algorithm is 0.1dB at BER of 10-3compared with PEG algorithm.
In this paper, a new type of edge coloring of graphs together with an algorithm for such an edge coloring is presented to construct some column-weight three low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes whose Tanner graphs are free of 4-cycles. This kind of edge coloring is applied on some well-known classes of graphs such as complete graphs and complete bipartite graphs to generate some column-weight 3 LDPC codes having flexibility in terms of code length and rate. Interestingly, the constructed (3, k)-regular codes with regularities k = 4, 5,..., 22 have lengths n = 12, 20, 26, 35, 48, 57, 70, 88, 104, 117, 140, 155, 176, 204, 228, 247, 280, 301, 330, having minimum block length compared to the best known similar codes in the literature. In addition to linear complexity of generating such parity-check matrices, they can be considered as the base matrices of some quasi-cyclic (QC) LDPC codes with maximum achievable girth 18, which inherit the low-complexity encoder implementations of QC-LDPC codes. Simulation results show that the QC-LDPC codes with large girth lifted from the constructed base matrices have good performances and outperform random codes, progressive edge growth LDPC codes, some finite fields and group rings based QC-LDPC codes and also have a close competition to the standard IEEE 802. 16e (WiMAX) code.
A novel approach to constructing Tanner graphs using progressive edge growth (PEG) is introduced. It yields LDPC codes providing minimized block error probability in Binary Erasure Channels (BEC). The constructed codes exhibit superior performance over codes generated by previously known algorithms, both for BEC and AWGN channels. Furthermore, an upper bound on the expected block error probability in the error floor region of the generated codes is derived. This allows analytical prediction of the codes' error floor performance. Finally, the method is generalized for generating simple in implementation LDPC codes based on lifted graphs.
In this paper, a novel methodology for designing structured generalized LDPC (G-LDPC) codes is presented. The proposed design results in quasi-cyclic G-LDPC codes for which efficient encoding is feasible through shift-register-based circuits. The structure imposed on the bipartite graphs, together with the choice of simple component codes, leads to a class of codes suitable for fast iterative decoding. A pragmatic approach to the construction of G-LDPC codes is proposed. The approach is based on the substitution of check nodes in the protograph of a low-density parity-check code with stronger nodes based, for instance, on Hamming codes. Such a design approach, which we call LDPC code doping, leads to low-rate quasi-cyclic G-LDPC codes with excellent performance in both the error floor and waterfall regions on the additive white Gaussian noise channel.
In this paper, we construct regular and irregular LDPC codes using (n, {k1,k2}, 1)block design. The problem of designing regular and irregular structured LDPC codes that have good overall error performance for wide range of code rates and block sizes with attractive storage requirements is attempted. The codes constructed by this method have the girth at least 6 and they perform well with the sum-product iterative decoding algorithm. Further we analyze the constructed codes based on number of short cycles of the corresponding Tanner graph. The analysis shows that codes having small number of short cycles and a cycle structure which is not overly regular in their Tanner graph perform better. The presented codes are well structured and unlike random codes can lend themselves to a very low-complexity encoder and decoder implementation.
