Influence of intrinsic decoherence on tripartite entanglement and bipartite fidelity of polar molecules in pendular states

Jia-Xing Han, Yuan Hu, Yu Jin +1 more

An array of ultracold polar molecules trapped in an external electric field is regarded as a promising carrier of quantum information. Under the action of this field, molecules are compelled to undergo pendular oscillations by the Stark effect. Particular attention has been paid to the influence of intrinsic decoherence on the model of linear polar molecular pendular states, thereby we evaluate the tripartite entanglement with negativity, as well as fidelity of bipartite quantum systems for input and output signals using electric dipole moments of polar molecules as qubits. According to this study, we consider three typical initial states for both systems, respectively, and investigate the temporal evolution with variable values of the external field intensity, the intrinsic decoherence factor, and the dipole-dipole interaction. Thus, we demonstrate the sound selection of these three main parameters to obtain the best entanglement degree and fidelity.

External field control of spin-dependent rotational decoherence of ultracold polar molecules

Alexander Petrov, Constantinos Makrides, Svetlana Kotochigova

We determine trapping conditions for ultracold polar molecules, where pairs of internal states experience identical trapping potentials. Such conditions could ensure that detrimental effects of inevitable inhomogeneities across an ultracold sample are significantly reduced. In particular, we investigate the internal rovibronic and hyperfine quantum states of ultracold fermionic ground-state 40K87Rb polar molecules, when static magnetic, static electric and trapping laser fields are simultaneously applied. Understanding the effect of changing the relative orientation or polarisation of these three fields is of crucial importance for the creation of decoherence-free subspaces built from two or more rovibronic states. Moreover, we evaluate the induced dipole moment of the molecule in the presence of these fields, which will allow control of interactions between molecules in different sites of an optical lattice, and study the influence of the interaction anisotropy on the ability to entangle polar molecules.

End-to-end entanglement in a polar-molecule array under intrinsic decoherence

Ying-Yen Liao

Dynamic entanglement between two end molecules in a polar-molecule array is investigated in static electric fields. Specific initial states are set to probe the evolution of the molecular system under the influence of intrinsic decoherence. We analyze the degree of entanglement between the end molecules by use of concurrence. When the Bell states are initially shared between the end molecules, the end-to-end concurrence shows either a fragile or a robust behavior. The robust concurrence is less affected by decoherence, reflecting a situation that the initial Bell state can be shared between the end molecules for long periods of time. The stability of the entanglement shared between two arbitrary molecules in the array is further studied. Furthermore, we show how to induce a high end-to-end concurrence via transfer of a separable state. The state is transferred from one end molecule to the other. During the back-and-forth transfer processes, the concurrence cyclically reveals high peaks, corresponding to different Bell-like states. In addition, population inversion is observed to only occur at the end molecules in the array. We further examine the contribution of effective states to the concurrence and discuss the effects of decoherence, dipole-field interaction, and dipole-dipole interaction on its properties.
