Abstract

Abstract The transverse spin‐3/2 Ising model with random interactions is studied using an effective field method within the framework of a single‐site cluster theory. The effective field equations are derived using a probability distribution method based on the use of generalized Van der Waerden identities, that account exactly for the single‐site kinematic relations. A model is adopted in which the nearest‐neighbour exchange couplings are described by the probability distribution law: P(Jij) = p δ(Jij‐J) + (1‐p) δ(Jij‐aJ). The critical temperature at which the longitudinal magnetization vanishes is studied as a function of p and the transverse field strength. The thermal variation of the longitudinal and transverse magnetizations and higher‐order magnetization moments are also studied.

Magnetic properties of a mixed spin- 1 and spin- 3 transverse Ising model

Noureddine Benayad, A. Dakhama, J. Zittartz

A theoretical study of a mixed spin- and spin- Ising system with independent transverse fields is present- ed using an effective field method within the framework of a single-site cluster theory. In this approach the effective field equations are derived using a probability distribution method based on the use of generalized van der Waerden identities accounting exactly for the single-site kinematic relations. The effect of the transverse fields on the critical behaviour is studied. The thermal dependence of the lon- gitudinal and transverse components of the magnetization and its higher moments is also studied.

The diluted mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising model in a transverse random field

Noureddine Benayad, A. Dakhama, Ahmed Fathi +1 more

The diluted mixed-spin Ising system consisting of spin 1/2 and spin 1 with a transverse random field is studied by the use of an effective-field method within the framework of a single-site cluster theory. The equations are derived using a probability distribution method based on the use of Van der Waerden identities. The phase diagrams are investigated for various lattice structures both for pure and diluted systems, where the transverse field is bimodally and trimodally distributed.

The Spin-1/2 Ising Film in a Random Transverse Field

A. Moutie, M. Kerouad, B. Laaboudi

The critical behaviour of the spin-1/2 Ising film in a random transverse field has been studied by the use of an effective field method within the framework of a single cluster theory. The equations are derived using a probability distribution method. The effect of the ratio R of the surface exchange interaction to the bulk one, random transverse fields at the surface and in the bulk and film thickness on the phase diagrams are investigated.

Phase Diagrams of the Diluted Spin‐3/2 Blume‐Capel Model

Abderrahmane Bakkali, M. Kerouad, M. Saber

Abstract The phase diagrams of the diluted spin‐3/2 Blume‐Capel Ising model on a honeycomb lattice are examined in detail, within the framework of an effective field theory based on the use of a probability distribution that correctly accounts for the single site kinematic relations. The thermal variation of the magnetization, the quadrupolar moment, and the higher‐order moment near critical concentrations are also investigated.

Magnetic properties of a transverse spin-1 Ising model with random crystal-field interactions

A. Benyoussef, Hamid Ez-zahraouy A

We study the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a transverse spin-1 Ising model with random longitudinal crystal-field interactions using an expansion technique for cluster identities of spin-1 localized spin systems. Partially ordered phases appear for a particular two valued distribution P(D i )=1/2( delta (D i -(1+ alpha )D)+ delta (D i -(1- alpha )D)), and sufficiently small transverse field Omega . The longitudinal and transverse magnetizations and the quadrupolar moments are calculated. General formulae, applicable to structures with arbitrary coordination number N, are given.

Magnetic properties of a transverse spin‐$ {3 \over 2} $ Ising model with random longitudinal field

Yaqiu Liang, Guozhu Wei, Guoli Song

Abstract Within the framework of the effective‐field theory with correlations, a spin‐$ {3 \over 2} $ transverse Ising model in the longitudinal random‐field on a honeycomb lattice is studied. The phase diagrams and the behavior of the tricritical point are examined. The possible re‐entrance phenomena displayed by the system due to the competition effects that occur for the appropriate ranges of the random and transverse field are investigated. The longitudinal and transverse magnetizations, the longitudinal quadrupolar moments and internal energy are given numerically for a honeycomb lattice (z = 3). (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
