Continuous extension of the discrete shift translations on one-dimensional quantum lattice systems

Hajime Moriya, Heide Narnhofer

We study the continuous extension of discrete shift translations on one-dimensional quantum lattice systems. We explore a specific example provided by a quasi-free C ∗ {C}^{\ast } -flow on the one-dimensional fermion lattice system, comparing it with its original discrete shift-translations. Specifically, we demonstrate its explicit dynamical formula, which reveals violations of causality and locality. Furthermore, we prove that this quasi-free C ∗ {C}^{\ast } -flow on the one-dimensional fermion lattice system cannot be extended to the one-dimensional quantum spin lattice system via the Jordan-Wigner transformation.

A Study on Quantum Spectrums and Closed-orbit in the System of One-dimensional Nano-microstructure

Jun Lu

A new quantum spectrum function is defined using the energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of a one-dimensional nana-microstructure system. As an example of the calculation of quantum spectrum function, the one-dimensional closed orbits motion of a billiard was considered. It is found that the Fourier transform of the quantum spectrum function corresponds with the classical closed-orbits in the system. These results give new evidence about the classical-quantum correspondence in the system of one-dimensional nana-microstructure.

One-Dimensional Hydrogen Atom

R. Loudon

The quantum-mechanical system which consists of a particle in one dimension subjected to a Coulomb attraction (the one-dimensional hydrogen atom) is shown to have a ground state of infinite binding energy, all the excited bound states of the system having a twofold degeneracy. The breakdown of the theorem that a one-dimensional system cannot have degeneracy is examined. The treatment illustrates a number of properties common to the quantum mechanics of one-dimensional systems.
