Abstract

We present some new finite-size results for the Binder cumulant that we obtained by means of a transfer-matrix perturbation expansion and by the cluster Monte Carlo methods -the Swendsen-Wang and Wolff algorithms and the largest-cluster method.A finite-size scaling analysis taking into account a correction to scaling locates the critical coupling at Kc = 0.221649(4).

Transfer matrix and Monte Carlo tests of critical exponents in Ising model

J. Kaupužs

The corrections to finite-size scaling in the critical two-point correlation function G(r) of 2D Ising model on a square lattice have been studied numerically by means of exact transfer-matrix algorithms. The systems have been considered, including up to 800 spins. The calculation of G(r) at a distance r equal to the half of the system size L shows the existence of an amplitude correction proportional to 1/L^2. A nontrivial correction ~1/L^0.25 of a very small magnitude also has been detected, as it can be expected from our recently developed GFD (grouping of Feynman diagrams) theory. Monte Carlo simulations of the squared magnetization of 3D Ising model have been performed by Wolff's algorithm in the range of the reduced temperatures t =< 0.000086 and system sizes L =< 410. The effective critical exponent beta_eff(t) tends to increase above the currently accepted numerical values. The critical coupling K_c=0.22165386(51) has been extracted from the Binder cumulant data within 96 =< L =< 384. The critical exponent 1/nu, estimated from the finite-size scaling of the derivatives of the Binder cumulant, tends to decrease slightly below the RG value 1.587 for the largest system sizes. The finite-size scaling of accurately simulated maximal values of the specific heat C_v in 3D Ising model confirms a logarithmic rather than power-like critical singularity of C_v.

A new MCRG (Monte Carlo Renormalization Group) calculation of the critical behavior of the 3d ising model - preliminary results

CLIVE F. BAILLIE, Kenneth N. Barish, Rajan Gupta +1 more

We have undertaken a large-scale computer simulation of the 3d Ising model using the Monte Carlo Renormalization Group (MCRG) method. Our calculation improves on past calculations in three ways. Firstly, larger lattices are used -- we have run on 128{sup 3} as well as 64{sup 3}. Secondly, many more spin operators -- 53 even and 46 odd -- are measured. Lastly, we have incorporated more efficient ways of spin update -- Wolff's single-cluster variant of the Swendsen and Wang algorithm. In addition to calculating the critical temperature the thermal and magnetic exponents, and improving the estimate of the correction-to-scaling exponent, we are aiming to verify the presence of redundant operators. We do not yet have sufficient statistics to give final results so here we describe our calculation and present preliminary results which demonstrate that we have control over both finite size effects and systematic errors arising from truncation. 16 refs., 7 figs.

Critical behavior of the long-range Ising chain from the largest-cluster probability distribution

Katarina Uzelac, Zvonko Glumac, A. Aničić

Monte Carlo simulations of the one-dimensional Ising model with ferromagnetic interactions decaying with distance r as 1/r(1+sigma) are performed by applying the Swendsen-Wang cluster algorithm with cumulative probabilities. The critical behavior in the nonclassical critical regime corresponding to 0.5<sigma<1 is derived from finite-size scaling analysis of the largest cluster.

Renormalized coupling constant in the Ising model

George Allen Baker Jr., Naoki Kawashima

The three-dimensional Ising model is studied by means of the Swendsen - Wang, cluster, Monte Carlo method. The simulations are performed on finite sized systems up to the 96-cube, and the renormalized coupling constant is estimated to be . We make further arguments and computations and say that and so that which implies the validity of hyperscaling . The Josephson hyperscaling relation also appears to hold. We give estimates for some of the critical indices.

The critical behavior of 3D Ising spin glass models: universality and scaling corrections

Martin Hasenbusch, Andrea Pelissetto, Ettore Vicari

We perform high-statistics Monte Carlo simulations of three three-dimensional Ising spin glass models: the ± J Ising model for two values of the disorder parameter p , p = 1/2 and 0.7, and the bond-diluted ± J model for bond-occupation probability p b = 0.45. A finite-size scaling analysis of the quartic cumulants at the critical point shows conclusively that these models belong to the same universality class and allows us to estimate the scaling-correction exponent ω related to the leading irrelevant operator, ω = 1.0(1). We also determine the critical exponents ν and η. Taking into account the scaling corrections, we obtain ν = 2.53(8) and η = −0.384(9).

Critical Binder cumulant and universality: Fortuin-Kasteleyn clusters and order-parameter fluctuations

Anastasios Malakis, Nikolaos G. Fytas, Gül Gülpınar

We investigate the dependence of the critical Binder cumulant of the magnetization and the largest Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster on the boundary conditions and aspect ratio of the underlying square Ising lattices. By means of the Swendsen-Wang algorithm, we generate numerical data for large system sizes and we perform a detailed finite-size scaling analysis for several values of the aspect ratio r, for both periodic and free boundary conditions. We estimate the universal probability density functions of the largest Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster and we compare it to those of the magnetization at criticality. It is shown that these probability density functions follow similar scaling laws, and it is found that the values of the critical Binder cumulant of the largest Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster are upper bounds to the values of the respective order-parameter's cumulant, with a splitting behavior for large values of the aspect ratio. We also investigate the dependence of the amplitudes of the magnetization and the largest Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster on the aspect ratio and boundary conditions. We find that the associated exponents, describing the aspect-ratio dependencies, are different for the magnetization and the largest Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster, but in each case are independent of boundary conditions.
