Application of Contractor Renormalization Group to the Heisenberg Zig-Zag and the Hubbard Chain

Krzysztof Cichy, Piotr Tomczak

The contractor renormalization group method was devised in 1994 by Morningstar and Weinstein. It was primarily aimed at extracting the physics of lattice quantum field theories (like lattice quantum chromodynamics). However, it is a general method of analyzing Hamiltonian lattice systems, e.g.Ising, Heisenberg or Hubbard models. The aim of this work is to show the application of contractor renormalization group method to one-dimensional quantum systems -the Heisenberg zig-zag model and the Hubbard chain. As a test of the method, the ground state energy of these systems will be calculated.

From Quantum Theory to Thermodynamic Applications Based on the Nemirovsky Bound

Nemirovsky, Mikhail

Abstract This work examines the practical significance of the Nemirovsky bound for the lower limit of the mass gap in lattice quantum systems: Δ ≥ Λ_gate(g) = m₀ - 2zgV_max > 0 for g < g* = m₀/(2zV_max). We demonstrate how this fundamental quantum characteristic determines the thermodynamic properties of systems at low temperatures, including heat capacity, entropy, and critical behavior near quantum phase transitions. Concrete numerical examples are presented for the application of the formula to calculate physical quantities in quantum magnets, topological materials, and quantum computing devices. Keywords: Mass gap, energy gap, quantum lattice systems, spectral vacuum mechanism, low-temperature thermodynamics, heat capacity, quantum phase transitions, quantum magnets, topological qubits, decoherence time, constructive quantum field theory, condensed matter physics, Nemirovsky bound.
