Non-classicality of two superconducting-qubits interacting independently with a resonator cavity: trace-norm correlation and Bures-distance entanglement

A.‐B. A. Mohamed, H. A. Hessian

We study the behaviour of the correlation robustness of two spatially isolated charge-qubits started initially with a maximally correlated nonsymmetric Bell-state. Each charged qubit is coupled individually to a superconducting resonator coherent field. The dynamics of the qubit-resonator quantum correlations, based on trace-norm measurement-induced non-locality (MIN) and Bures distance entanglement, are investigated under the effects of the qubit-resonator interactions, intrinsic decoherence, initial coherent intensity cavity as well as of the qubit-resonator detuning. It is found that the trace-norm MIN correlation can be enhanced by the initial coherent field intensity and the detuning. The MIN is more robust, against the qubit-resonator interactions and the decoherence, than the Bures distance entanglement. Furthermore, the correlation robustness analysed for the different cases of the coherent states depends not only on the intrinsic decoherence but also on the coherent states and the qubit-resonator detuning.

Coherently driven non-classical light emission from a quantum dot

Andreas Müller, Edward B. Flagg, Pablo Bianucci +5 more

Narrow line-widths and the possibility of enhanced spontaneous emission via coupling to microcavities make semiconductor quantum dots ideal for harnessing coherent quantum phenomena at the single photon level. So far, however, all approaches have relied on incoherent pumping, which limits the desirable properties of the emission. In contrast, coherent excitation was recognized to be necessary for providing both improved photon indistinguishability and high efficiency, and offers the quantum control capabilities required for basic qubit manipulations. Here we achieve, for the first time, resonant and coherent excitation of a quantum dot with simultaneous collection of the non-classical photon emission. Second-order correlation measurements show the unique signature of a coherently-driven two-level quantum emitter: the photon statistics become oscillatory at high driving fields, reflecting the coherent evolution of the excitonic ground state of the quantum dot.

Two-particle quantum correlations in nano and macro single-mode lasers

F. Papoff, Giampaolo D'Alessandro, Gian Luca Lippi +1 more

We compare a novel quantum mechanical model of lasers, which includes all two-particle correlations, with the Coherent-Incoherent Model (CIM), where truncation eliminates these effects. Numerical results for the simple case of identical single-electron quantum dots are presented for two cases: only the laser mode is coupled to the quantum dots; the coupling is extended to non-resonant modes. We find coexistence between non-lasing and lasing states, together with a minimum number of photons required to initiate the laser action. The correlations introduce a non-zero variance in the field, which is otherwise strictly zero in the absence of interparticle correlations.
