Using the New Method of Quantum Theory to Study the Double-slit Diffraction of C_(60) Molecules

Jian Ma

Motion of microscopic particles has been a very interesting topic. In order to explain the matter wave diffraction problem better, this paper using the new method of quantum theory to studies the Double-slit diffraction of C60 molecules using the new method of quantum theory.First, solve the Double slit diffraction of C60molecules wave functions by Schrodinger equation. Then calculate the diffraction wave function after the slit of C60 molecules with the Feynman path integral quantum theory. To obtain diffraction wave function of diffraction screen. Finally the analytic relation between the double-slit relative diffraction intensity and diffraction pattern position of C60molecules is obtained. The calculation results are in good agreement with the experimental data. This shows that the diffraction microscopic particles need to be studied with quantum theory method completely. This method has universality for the study of the motion of microscopic particles. It also can be used in the study of single slit diffraction, Multi-slit diffraction and grating diffraction for matter wave and other particles.

Conclusions: Concept of Interpretation and Necessary Further Elaborations

Nicolae Mazilu, Maricel Agop, Ioan Mercheş

This concluding chapter of the book presents some key concepts discussed in the book. Scale Relativity Theory (SRT) is a necessary theory of interpretation. With the advent of wave mechanics, the interpretation has been established as a necessity within the core of physics itself. Even if it is possible to eliminate the wave mechanics from our knowledge, the interpretation still cannot be eliminated. The fundamental feature of the concept of interpretation turns out to be the idea of freedom of particles: the wave function is referring to an ensemble of free particles. The approach of the interpretation concept, whereby the wave function is interpreted by ensembles of Hertz free particles, and the potential of forces describes implicitly these forces, is a natural situation according to the very idea of quantization of the wave mechanics. In hindsight, this interpretation warrants the Laurent Nottale’s approach of SRT by geodesic motions description of a fractal fluid.

The Wave Function and Its Evolution

Shan Gao

The meaning of the wave function and its evolution are investi-gated. First, we argue that the wave function in quantum mechanics is a description of random discontinuous motion of particles, and the modulus square of the wave function gives the probability density of the particles being in certain locations in space. Next, we show that the linear non-relativistic evolution of the wave function of an isolated system obeys the free Schrödinger equation due to the requirements of spacetime translation invariance and relativistic invariance. Thirdly, we argue that the random discontinuous motion of particles may lead to a stochastic, nonlinear collapse evolution of the wave function. A dis-crete model of energy-conserved wavefunction collapse is proposed and shown consistent with existing experiments and our macroscopic expe-rience. Besides, we also give a critical analysis of the de Broglie-Bohm theory, the many-worlds interpretation and other dynamical collapse theories, and briefly discuss the issues of unifying quantum mechanics and relativity.
