We study the decoy-state measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution using heralded single-photon sources, and demonstrate that our new scheme of using heralded single-photon sources can give a better performance comparing with various schemes.

Phase self-aligned continuous-variable measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution

Hua‐Lei Yin, Wei Zhu, Yao Fu

Continuous-variable measurement-independent-device quantum key distribution (CV-MDI-QKD) can offer high secure key rate at metropolitan distance and remove all side channel loopholes of detection as well. However, there is no in-field experimental demonstration of CV-MDI-QKD due to the remote distance phase-locking techniques challenge. Here, we present a new optical scheme to overcome this difficulty and also removes the requirement of two identical independent lasers. Furthermore, we give an alternate but detailed proof of the minimized key rate condition to extract the secure key rate. We anticipate that our new scheme can be used to demonstrate the in-field CV-MDI-QKD experiment and build the CV-MDI-QKD network with untrusted source.

Enhanced measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution in reference-frame-independent scenario

Hao Zhang, Chunhui Zhang, Chun-Mei Zhang +2 more

The protocol of reference-frame-independent measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution has many advantages compared with other existing quantum key distribution protocols, and thus has many interesting applications in the field of quantum information. In this paper, we propose a scheme on the reference-frame-independent measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution by implementing heralded single-photon sources, where we only need to modulate pump light into two intensities (vacuum and nonvacuum). Through numerical simulations, we demonstrate that our scheme can exhibit much longer transmission distance than the standard three-intensity decoy-state measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution under a reference-frame-independent scenario.
