Coupled cluster downfolding methods: The effect of double commutator terms on the accuracy of ground-state energies

Nicholas P. Bauman, Karol Kowalski

Downfolding coupled cluster techniques have recently been introduced into quantum chemistry as a tool for the dimensionality reduction of the many-body quantum problem. As opposed to earlier formulations in physics and chemistry based on the concept of effective Hamiltonians, the appearance of the downfolded Hamiltonians is a natural consequence of the single-reference exponential parameterization of the wave function. In this paper, we discuss the impact of higher-order terms originating in double commutators. In analogy to previous studies, we consider the case when only one- and two-body interactions are included in the downfolded Hamiltonians. We demonstrate the efficiency of the many-body expansions involving single and double commutators for the unitary extension of the downfolded Hamiltonians on the example of the beryllium atom, and bond-breaking processes in the Li2 and H2O molecules. For the H2O system, we also analyze energies obtained with downfolding procedures as functions of the active space size.

Foundations of Trans-Planckian Horizon Lock Mechanics – Quantum Chemistry Resolution: Resolving the High-Dimensional Molecular Configuration Space Problem and Multi-Electron Ultraviolet Divergences via the Invariant Causal Scale

Devendra Kumar Khandey

This paper delivers the formal mathematical physics resolution to the primary unsolved phenomenon in theoretical chemistry: the catastrophic dimensional collapse and ultraviolet self-energy divergence within high-dimensional molecular configuration spaces (D -> 1000). In multi-electron systems, computing non-linear wave functions across high-dimensional basins triggers computational non-renormalizability, causing the traditional Schrödinger equations to yield infinite probability poles. Operating under the structural framework of the Trans-Planckian Horizon Lock Mechanics (TPHLM), we regularize the multi-dimensional configuration mesh by mapping field integrations onto the global scale of the Khandey Causal Invariant Constant (K_J = 2.02 x 10^26 m). By employing natural and Planck-normalized units (c = h = l_p = \tau_p = 1), we demonstrate total wave-function imputation, satisfy state unitarity under continuous scaling, and eliminate configuration space divergences across a perfect 0.0000000000000000% error baseline.
