Abstract

Modern cryptography targeted towards providing data confidentiality still pose some limitations. The security of public-key cryptography is based on unproven assumptions associated with the hardness /complicatedness of certain mathematical problems. However, public-key cryptography is not unconditionally secure: there is no proof that the problems on which it is based are intractable or even that their complexity is not polynomial. Therefore, public-key cryptography is not immune to unexpectedly strong computational power or better cryptanalysis techniques. The strength of modern cryptography is being weakened and with advances of big data, could gradually be suppressed. Moreover, most of the currently used public-key cryptographic schemes could be cracked in polynomial time with a quantum computer. This paper presents a renewed focus in fortifying the confidentiality of big data by proposing a quantum-cryptographic protocol.A framework was constructed for realizing the protocol, considering some characteristics of big data and conceptualized using defined propositions and theorems.

Big Data Security Issues and Quantum Cryptography for Cloud Computing

Vijey Thayananthan, Aiiad Ahmad Albeshri

Enhancement of security in cloud computing is challengeable when big data such as medical and government confidential information involves in a cloud environment. The managing key for individual user participated in the mobile cloud will be the problem when big data is handled without efficient security key management.Especially, mobile cloud nodes where users handle their data can be anywhere else in the cloud environment. So, managing keys for random users and finding correct locations of users" nodes and their identities are interesting areas for the research. To solve this problem related to key management, cloud services need efficient key management that employs quantum cryptography using Grover"s algorithm. Moreover, in this research, we introduce effective authentication technique in order to improve the level of security (with minimum complexity) In this paper, theoretical model, Grover"s algorithm and quantum cryptography with the PairHand protocol are considered as methodologies. As summarized results, security levels of users and services providers are considered to verify the services used in a cloud environment. In spite of same quantum properties characterize the light, data security issues are still not matured with the light technology.Hiding the big data in the light through this research methodology will be the conclusion of the future security.

Quantum Public Key Cryptography

Devang Pandya, P.S. Solanki, Rakeshkumar Vanzara +1 more

Cryptography is not for secure the sensitive data but now days it is compulsory in many applications like IoT, Cloud Platform, business systems and so on. A new area of advanced information technology called quantum-computing uses the unique characteristics of quantum physics to solve complex problems, which are beyond the powers of even the most robust classical/powerful computers. Security is the major concern in the area of quantum computing environment. Quantum cryptography, in addition, merely practices the ideologies of quantum mechanism to encrypt/decrypt data and transmit it in a way that cannot be hacked by anyone. This chapter explores the area of quantum public key cryptography, which seeks to create cryptographic building blocks that can withstand attacks from a quantum computing-enabled adversary. Chapter begins with fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, cryptography, quantum cryptography, quantum public key cryptography and, core families of quantum-resistant public key schemes.

Quantum cryptography: a view from classical cryptography

Johannes A Buchmann, Johannes Braun, Denise Demirel +1 more

Abstract Much of digital data requires long-term protection of confidentiality, for example, medical health records. Cryptography provides such protection. However, currently used cryptographic techniques such as Diffe-Hellman key exchange may not provide long-term security. Such techniques rely on certain computational assumptions, such as the hardness of the discrete logarithm problem that may turn out to be incorrect. On the other hand, quantum cryptography---in particular quantum random number generation and quantum key distribution---offers information theoretic protection. In this paper, we explore the challenge of providing long-term confidentiality and we argue that a combination of quantum cryptography and classical cryptography can provide such protection.

Quantum Cryptographic Protocols for Enhanced Cloud Security

Vinit Khetani

Quantum cryptographic protocols offer transformative potential for enhancing cloud security by leveraging the principles of quantum mechanics. These protocols ensure unbreakable encryption through quantum key distribution (QKD), where security is derived from the fundamental properties of quantum particles. Unlike classical encryption, which relies on computational complexity, quantum cryptography guarantees data protection by preventing unauthorized access, as any attempt to intercept quantum keys alters their state and can be immediately detected. This paper explores the application of quantum cryptographic protocols in securing cloud environments, addressing vulnerabilities posed by classical encryption techniques in the face of growing computational power. Key protocols, such as BB84 and E91, are analyzed for their potential in securing cloud infrastructure, offering enhanced confidentiality, integrity, and authentication of data. Additionally, this study highlights the integration of quantum cryptography with modern cloud architectures, overcoming challenges such as scalability and implementation cost. By employing quantum-resistant strategies, these protocols provide a robust defense against emerging threats from quantum computing, making them an essential solution for future-proof cloud security. The findings demonstrate that quantum cryptography, combined with advanced cloud security practices, can ensure secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructures capable of protecting sensitive data in an increasingly interconnected digital landscape.

A Secure Method of Communication in Conventional Cryptography using Quantum Key Distribution

Chunduru Anilkumar, Bhavani Gorle, Kinthali Sowmya

Security knowledge is one of the foremost challenges in the present day. When the topic is about Information security, the concept of cryptography comes into the picture. Every day, people and organizations use cryptography to maintain the confidentiality of their communications and data as well as to preserve their privacy. Today, one of the most successful methods used by businesses to protect their storage systems, whether at rest or in transit, is cryptography. Yet, cryptography is an effective technique to secure the data, the modern technology can break the cryptographic techniques. But some data encryption algorithms are several times stronger than today's conventional cryptography and can be constructed using quantum computing. They are "Quantum Cryptographic Algorithms ". Quantum cryptography uses the rules of quantum physics instead of classical encryption, which is based on mathematics, to protect and transmit data in a way that cannot be intercepted. Quantum key distribution is the greatest illustration of quantum cryptography and offers a safe solution to the key exchange issue. The proposed work deals with quantum cryptography and mainly focuses on how the quantum cryptographic algorithm is more secure than traditional cryptography.

Quantum Cryptography

Shashi Bhushan

In today’s world, security in data communication has become a top-most priority in every organization. In general, cryptography is defined as the methodology to ensure data is secure by employing suitable encryption and decryption techniques. On the transmitter side, the original message is encrypted using a key. Then the encrypted data is decrypted with the duplicate key at the receiver side as per the accepted protocol between the two parties. In conventional cryptographic techniques, eavesdropping is prevented from accessing the contents of encrypted message by employing certain mathematical function and techniques, but this security methodology does not guarantee any key security. In many scenarios, a secure communication link is established by using a key, but a third party with a bad intent may steal the session keys, giving rise to data security, getting compromised. So in this regard, quantum cryptography is a better alternative when it comes to data security integrity. In this research, a detail about quantum cryptography is elaborated on, and also discussed are various concepts like single photon protocol, loss of data in quantum computing, how quantum is affecting computer communication systems. In conventional cryptographic methodology of data transmission and reception, there is always a probability of eavesdropping leading to the compromising of data integrity and security. The solution to this problem can be obtained by integrating the quantum cryptographic technique with data at the sender as well as the receiver, to detect and minimize various errors by employing suitable bit error scheme. This involves the usage of programming language specific to quantum computing like qcl and quipper to achieve efficient encryption and decryption with faster processing capability.
