Some notes on the robustness of k\mathbf{k}k-coherence

Abstract

We show that two related measures of k-coherence, called the standard and generalized robustness of k-coherence, are equal to each other when restricted to pure states. As a direct application of the result, we establish an equivalence between two analogous measures of Schmidt rank k-entanglement for all pure states. This answers conjectures raised in the literature regarding the evaluation of the quantifiers, and facilitates an efficient quantification of pure-state resources by introducing computable closed-form expressions for the two measures.

On the Schmidt robustness of pure states

Lieven Clarisse

Robustness measures as introduced by Vidal and Tarrach (1999 Robustness of entanglement Phys. Rev. A 59 141–55) quantify the extent to which entangled states remain entangled under mixing. Analogously, we introduce here the Schmidt robustness and the random Schmidt robustness. The latter notion is closely related to the construction of Schmidt balls around the identity. We analyse the situation for pure states and provide nontrivial upper and lower bounds. Upper bounds to the random Schmidt-2 robustness allow us to construct a particularly simple distillability criterion. We present two conjectures, the first one is related to the radius of inner balls around the identity in the convex set of Schmidt number n -states. We also conjecture a class of optimal Schmidt witnesses for pure states.

Two novel pure-state coherence measures in quantifying coherence

Manis Hazra, Debabrata Goswami

In the resource theory of coherence, the quantification of quantum-state coherence is an important task. In this regard, the key ingredients are the various coherence monotones (or measures). There are few coherence-monotone classes that solely depend on other coherence measures defined for all the pure states; in other words, they rely on the pure state coherence measures (PSCM). Here, we set forth two such novel PSCMs, and validate each of them through the fulfillment of all four necessary conditions. In addition, we delve into the most recent (as per our knowledge) coherence-monotone class based on the innovative idea of quantifying coherence in terms of pure-state coherence, further redefine it, and, through the study of convexity under mixing, justify why this coherence monotone class cannot be treated as a coherence-measure class in general.

Quantification of Multi-Particle Entanglement

Jens Eisert, H. J. Briegel

We present a measure of quantum entanglement which is capable of quantifying the degree of entanglement of a multi-partite quantum system. This measure, which is based on a generalization of the Schmidt rank of a pure state, is defined on the full state space and is shown to be an entanglement monotone, that is, it cannot increase under local quantum operations with classical communication and under mixing. For a large class of mixed states this measure of entanglement can be calculated exactly, and it provides a detailed classification of mixed states. We also present a connection to the best separable approximation of an entangled state of a two-qubit system.

Two novel pure-state coherence measures in quantifying coherence

Manis Hazra, Debabrata Goswami

Quantification is one of the primary goals of quantum coherence resource theory. Here, we put forward two coherence measures, analytically prove their validity in the pure-state regime following the axiomatic definition of a legitimate pure-state coherence measure (PSCM), and provide their general normalized forms. We further discuss their extensions in the domain of mixed states with the assistance of the convex roof of coherence, and top coherence (quantification in terms of pure state coherence) and define their classes (coherence \emph{monotone} or \emph{measure}); in this regard, we thoroughly investigate the top coherence class. For the quantitative demonstration, we pick up different laser pulse-two-qubit interaction scenarios and compare the evolutions of these two coherence measures along with \(l_{1}\)-norm of coherence and relative entropy of coherence; this study also signifies the importance of coherence in probing an atomic or molecular system.

Schmidt measure is not fully additive for pure states

Wei Huang, Zhaohui Wei

The Schmidt measure was introduced as a tool to quantify the degree of multipartite entanglement, which is a natural generalization of the Schmidt rank for a bipartite system and is particularly suitable for characterizing the multiparticle entanglement of graph states and other quantum states with underlying discrete structures. In this paper, by a counterexample we show that the Schmidt measure is not fully additive for pure states.
