Completeness of the Bethe Ansatz for the Periodic Isotropic Heisenberg Model

Abstract

For the periodic isotropic Heisenberg model with arbitrary spins and inhomogeneities, we describe the system of algebraic equations whose solutions are in bijection with eigenvalues of the transfer-matrix. The system describes pairs of polynomials with the given discrete Wronskian (Casorati determinant) and additional divisibility conditions on discrete Wronskians with multiple steps. If the polynomial of the smaller degree in the pair is coprime with the Wronskian, this system turns into the standard Bethe ansatz equations. Moreover, if the transfer-matrix is diagonalizable, then its spectrum is necessarily simple modulo natural degeneration.

Completeness of Wronskian Bethe equations for rational $\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n}$ spin chain

Dmitry Chernyak, Sébastien Leurent, Dmytro Volin

We consider rational integrable supersymmetric gl(m|n) spin chains in the defining representation and prove the isomorphism between a commutative algebra of conserved charges (the Bethe algebra) and a polynomial ring (the Wronskian algebra) defined by functional relations between Baxter Q-functions that we call Wronskian Bethe equations. These equations, in contrast to standard nested Bethe equations, admit only physical solutions for any value of inhomogeneities and furthermore we prove that the algebraic number of solutions to these equations is equal to the dimension of the spin chain Hilbert space (modulo relevant symmetries). Both twisted and twist-less periodic boundary conditions are considered, the isomorphism statement uses, as a sufficient condition, that the spin chain inhomogeneities $\theta_\ell$, $\ell=1,\ldots,L$ satisfy $\theta_\ell+\hbar\neq\theta_{\ell'}$ for $\ell<\ell'$. Counting of solutions is done in two independent ways: by computing a character of the Wronskian algebra and by explicitly solving the Bethe equations in certain scaling regimes supplemented with a proof that the algebraic number of solutions is the same for any value of $\theta_\ell$. In particular, we consider the regime $\theta_{\ell+1}/\theta_{\ell}\gg 1$ for the twist-less chain where we succeed to provide explicit solutions and their systematic labelling with standard Young tableaux.

Algebraic Bethe ansatz for singular solutions

Rafael I. Nepomechie, Chunguang Wang

The Bethe equations for the isotropic periodic spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain with N sites have solutions containing ±i/2 that are singular: both the corresponding energy and the algebraic Bethe ansatz vector are divergent. Such solutions must be carefully regularized. We consider a regularization involving a parameter that can be determined using a generalization of the Bethe equations. These generalized Bethe equations provide a practical way of determining which singular solutions correspond to eigenvectors of the model.

Off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz solution of the τ 2-model

Xiaotian Xu, Junpeng Cao, Shuai Cui +3 more

The generic quantum τ 2-model (also known as Baxter-Bazhanov-Stroganov (BBS) model) with periodic boundary condition is studied via the off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz method. The eigenvalues of the corresponding transfer matrix (solutions of the recursive functional relations in τ j -hierarchy) with generic site-dependent inhomogeneity parameters are given in terms of an inhomogeneous T − Q relation with polynomial Q-functions. The associated Bethe Ansatz equations are obtained. Numerical solutions of the Bethe Ansatz equations for small number of sites indicate that the inhomogeneous T − Q relation does indeed give the complete spectrum.

S. Belliard, Никита Андреевич Славнов, B. Vallet +1 more

We prove the modified algebraic Bethe Ansatz characterization of the spectral problem for the closed XXX Heisenberg spin chain with an arbitrary twist and arbitrary positive (half)-integer spin at each site of the chain. We provide two basis to characterize the spectral problem and two families of inhomogeneous Baxter T-Q equations. The two families satisfy an inhomogeneous quantum Wronskian equation.

Completing the solution for the OSp(1|2) spin chain

Rafael I. Nepomechie

The periodic OSp(1|2) quantum spin chain has both a graded and a non-graded version. Naively, the Bethe ansatz solution for the non-graded version does not account for the complete spectrum of the transfer matrix, and we propose a simple mechanism for achieving completeness. In contrast, for the graded version, this issue does not arise. We also clarify the symmetries of both versions of the model, and we show how these symmetries are manifested in the degeneracies and multiplicities of the transfer-matrix spectrum. While the graded version has OSp(1|2) symmetry, the non-graded version has only SU(2) symmetry. Moreover, we obtain conditions for selecting the physical singular solutions of the Bethe equations. This analysis solves a lasting controversy over signs in the Bethe equations.
