PHOTON FLOW DENSITY DISTRIBUTION IN THE DIFFRACTION PATTERN OF SINGLE- AND TWO PARALLEL SLITS

Abstract

The paper proposes a quantum mechanical model of the phenomenon of light diffraction by one and two slits in an infinitely thin metal screen. Based on the assumption that the photons passing through the slits interact with the electrons of the matter through elastic collisions, the resulting distribution of light intensity in the diffraction pattern for the cases of diffraction of particles on one and two cracks was obtained.

Diffraction of light on one and two infinitly narrow slits in a screen

A.V. Bezugliy

The work addresses the solution of the problems of light diffraction at one and two narrow slits in an opaque screen. The diffraction patterns were analyzed. It was established that their appearance depends on the ratio of the characteristic size of the obstacle to the wavelength of the photon. When this ratio is less than unity, we have a smoothly changing illumination with a maximum at the center of symmetry of the system. If it one is greater than unity, then the pattern has the appearance of light and dark stripes. The numerical value of the specified ratio determines the number of maxima. The obtained results allow us to assume that the reason for the well-known paradox in the interpretation of experiments on the diffraction of light at one and two narrow slits is thе next. The experiments at one slit was carried out for the case when the wavelength was greater than the width of the slit, and at two slits - for the case, when the wavelength is much smaller than the distance between slits.

On New Phenomena of Photon from Modified Double Slit Experiment

Haisheng Liu

A modified double slit experiment of light was implemented. In the experiment, a spatial shape filter is used to manipulate the shape of cross section of laser beam. When this modified laser beam was shined on the double slit, the intensity distribution of laser beam on double slit is asymmetrical. In this way, the laser light was directed to pass through only one or two slits of double slit in different sections. So the which-way information is predetermined before the photons pass through the slits. At the same time, the visible interference pattern can be observed on a monitor screen after the double slit. A couple of new phenomena had been observed from this experiment. The results of this experiment raise questions about Wave-Particle Duality model of quantum theory, which is the foundation for the Copenhagen explanation that is generally regarded as the principal interpretation of quantum theory. As the observed properties from this experiment cannot be fully explained using the quantum theory, especially the Copenhagen explanation, a new model of photon is proposed. The new model for photon should be also applicable to all other micro entity like electron, atoms, molecules etc., according to L. de Broglie assumption.

A Coalition of Single Slit and Double Slit Diffraction

Supantho Rakshit

In this paper, we theoretically investigate a particular experimental setup which coalesces the concepts of the double slit and single slit diffraction. In Thomas Young's classic double slit experiment, monochromatic plane light wave impinges on an opaque screen with two parallel, long and narrow slits and the resulting intensity pattern is observed on a screen placed at a great distance placed from the slits. We show, via theoretical calculations that the if another opaque screen with a single long narrow slit is placed at a distance from the two slits, the resulting intensity pattern on the observation screen is nontrivial and interesting.

Study on the diffraction-like and interference-like mechanisms of particle flow

Jiqing Zeng, Tianhe Zeng

Abstract The Young's double slit experiment and the electron double slit experiment are generally considered to prove the wave nature of light and electrons. The most obvious sign of the double-slit experiment is that there are bright and dark stripes on the screen. However, people have not carefully studied the causes of the light and dark stripes. Here, we demonstrates that the light and dark fringe in Young's double-slit experiment is not actually the diffraction and interference pattern of light wave, and tries to reveal the real reason for its formation. We have studied the scattering phenomenon of particle flow after passing through the gap, and found that the scattering type and scattering degree of freedom of particle flow are determined by the physical parameters of particles and the gap, and the uniform scattering of particle flow can form a "yes" and "no" discrete distribution pattern on the receiving screen. Based on the "diffraction like" and "interference like" mechanism of particle flow, this paper explains the electron diffraction and interference experiment, as well as the Young's double-slit interference experiment and the diffraction of light through circular holes and plates. This paper negates the wave-particle duality and the de Broglie material wave hypothesis, fundamentally shaking the foundation of modern quantum mechanics, and has great scientific significance.
