Abstract

In this paper, we consider a secrecy wireless powered communication network, where an information source (IS) transmits message to a legitimate information receiver (IR) with the energy it harvests from the energy source (ES) and a full-duplex (FD) active eavesdropper (AE) performs eavesdropping and jamming simultaneously with the energy it harvests from the ES. With a goal to maximize the achievable secrecy rate, we jointly optimize the energy beamforming and the artificial noise (AN) beamforming at the ES, the information beamforming at the IS and the energy transfer time at the ES. Numerical results are given to show the superiority of our proposed scheme.

Secure Beamforming for Full-Duplex Wireless Powered Communication Systems With Self-Energy Recycling

Wei Qiang Wu, Baoyun Wang, Zhixiang Deng +1 more

In this letter, we study a novel multi-antenna wireless powered communication (WPC) system consisting of an energy source (ES), a full-duplex self-energy recycling information source (IS), an information receiver (IR), and an energy receiver (ER) (potential eavesdropper). The energy-constrained IS, powered by ES, sends the confidential information to IR over the wiretap channel. Our goal is to maximize the secrecy rate for IR by jointly optimizing the energy and information beamforming vectors, under the constraints of the transmit power at ES and IS and the harvested energy at ER. To solve the formulated non-convex problem, a partial Lagrange dual method coupled with two-stage optimization method is proposed, which derives the optimal solution in semi-closed form. Numerical results show the superiority of our proposed design compared with the existing schemes.

Artificial-noise-aided secure beamforming in full-duplex wireless-powered relay

Myoungjun Ko, Sangseok Yun, Junguk Park +1 more

This paper studies a wireless powered relaying (WPR) system in which a source transmits an information signal to a destination with the help of an energy constrained relay in the presence of an eavesdropper. This work considers a scenario in the full-duplex WPR system where the information transmission/reception and the energy harvesting are performed simultaneously at the relay. We first derive an achievable secrecy rate of the system and formulate a joint optimization problem of artificial-noise-aided secure beamforming to maximize the achievable secrecy rate. Then, an efficient semi-definite relaxation (SDR) based algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal beamforming. Furthermore, we also propose three suboptimal beamforming but low computational complexity schemes. Comparisons are carried out among the performances of the proposed optimal and suboptimal schemes.

Robust Resource Allocation for Secrecy Wireless Powered Communication Networks

Yanan Wu, Xiaoming Chen, Chau Yuen +1 more

In this letter, we consider a secrecy wireless powered communication network (WPCN), where an information source sends message to a legitimate destination with the energy harvested from a power source, while an eavesdropper intends to intercept the information. In such a secrecy WPCN, transmit power and transfer time at the power source, and spatial beam at the information source, are interrelated, and together affect the secrecy performance. Considering imperfect channel state information about the eavesdropper channel, a robust resource allocation scheme is proposed for maximizing the secrecy rate in the worst case. Finally, the simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Robust secure beamforming for SWIPT systems with full-duplex receivers and energy-harvesting eavesdroppers

Zhixiang Deng, Yuan Gao, Wei Li +1 more

In this paper, we consider a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system with a full-duplex (FD) receiver and an energy-harvesting (EH) eavesdropper. The FD receiver decodes the information that should be kept secret from the EH eavesdropper and sends jamming signals to degrade the eavesdropper simultaneously using the energy it harvests from the source. An optimization problem is formulated to maximize the worst-case secrecy rate taking into account the eavesdropper channel uncertainties. A SDR-based method is proposed to solve this problem. Numerical results are given to show the superiority of our proposed scheme.

Power Allocation for Secure SWIPT Systems With Wireless-Powered Cooperative Jamming

Mengyu Liu, Yuan Liu

This letter considers wireless-powered cooperative jamming to secure communication between a transmitter (Tx) and an information receiver, in the presence of an energy receiver (ER), which is termed a potential eavesdropper. The full-duplex jammer harvests energy from the Tx's information signal and transmits jamming signal at the same time, where the jamming signal not only confounds the ER (potential eavesdropper) but also charges the ER. Our goal is to maximize the secrecy information rate by jointly optimizing the power allocation at the Tx and jammer, while maintaining the harvested energy requirement of the ER. The studied problem is non-convex and we propose the optimal solution based on the Lagrange method. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms the benchmark schemes.

Joint cooperative beamforming and artificial noise design for secure AF relay networks with energy-harvesting eavesdroppers

Hehao Niu, Bangning Zhang, Daoxing Guo +2 more

In this paper, we investigate physical layer security for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer in amplify-and-forward relay networks. We propose a joint robust cooperative beamforming and artificial noise scheme for secure communication and efficient wireless energy transfer. Specifically, by treating the energy receiver as a potential eavesdropper and assuming that only imperfect channel state information can be obtained, we formulate an optimization problem to maximize the worst-case secrecy rate between the source and the legitimate information receiver under both the power constraint at the relays and the wireless power harvest constraint at the energy receiver. Since such a problem is non-convex and hard to tackle, we propose a two-level optimization approach which involves a one-dimensional search and semidefinite relaxation. Simulation results show that the proposed robust scheme achieves better worst-case secrecy rate performance than other schemes.
