Quantum steering in magnetic Heisenberg models at finite temperature

Abstract

We investigate the behavior of quantum steering for a pair of quantum qubits described by the Heisenberg model with external magnetic field and in equilibrium with a reservoir at temperature T . Generally, the steerable weight, which is used to identify the steerability, is suppressed by thermal fluctuations. When the magnetic field is vanishing, the steerable weight behaves like the quantum entanglement. When the magnetic field is not zero, the steerable weight is dramatically different from the other quantities used to identify the quantum correlations between the two spins, i.e. , the concurrence, quantum discord and coherence. In the strong magnetic field limit, all of the other quantities we studied are vanishing for the Ising model, while steerable weight tends to one. This demonstrates that the strong transverse magnetic field is helpful to preserve the quantum steerability of the Ising model.

Quantum steering in Heisenberg models with Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interactions

Huizhen Li, Rong-Sheng Han, Ye-Qi Zhang +1 more

In this work, we study the quantum steering in two-qubit Heisenberg models with Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) interaction and an external magnetic field. We find that the steerable weight (SW) and the critical temperature where SW → 0 can be enhanced by the DM interactions. In the special case where the magnetic field is vanishing and the two spins are ferromagnetically coupled, the DM interaction can tune the zero-temperature SW from zero to a finite value. In addition to the SW, some other measurements used to identify the quantum entanglement and quantum correlations are investigated, i.e. , the concurrence, the quantum discord, and the robustness of coherence. In the strong magnetic field limit, our results show that the SW is dramatically different from the other measurements.

Thermal and magnetic quantum discord in Heisenberg models

T. Werlang, Gustavo Rigolin

We investigate how quantum correlations [quantum discord (QD)] of a two-qubit one-dimensional $\mathit{XYZ}$ Heisenberg chain in thermal equilibrium depend on the temperature $T$ of the bath and also on an external magnetic field $B$. We show that the behavior of thermal QD differs in many unexpected ways from thermal entanglement. For example, we show situations where QD increases with $T$ when entanglement decreases, cases where QD increases with $T$ even in regions with zero entanglement, and that QD signals a quantum phase transition even at finite $T$. We also show that by properly tuning $B$ or the interaction between the qubits we get nonzero QD for any $T$ and we present an effect not seen for entanglement, the ``regrowth'' of thermal QD.

Quantum thermal discord in a two-spin-1/2 XXZ model

Qiong Wang, Jie‐Qiao Liao, Zeng Hao-Sheng

We study the quantum discord in a two-spin-1/2 XXZ model in thermal equilibrium at temperature T in the presence of an external magnetic field B . Special attention is paid to the dependence of quantum discord on the temperature T and magnetic field B . It is found that quantum thermal discord is more robust than concurrence against temperature, in the sense that quantum thermal discord does not vanish at finite temperatures, but concurrence vanishes completely at a critical temperature.

THERMAL AND NON-UNIFORM MAGNETIC QUANTUM DISCORD IN THE TWO-QUBIT HEISENBERG XXZ MODEL

Rui-Hua Xiao, Zhan-Ying Guo, Fang Jian-Xing

The thermal quantum discord (QD) is investigated in the two-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg XXZ model under an external non-uniform magnetic field along the Z-axis. We obtain the analytical expressions of the thermal QD and thermal entanglement measured by concurrence (C). It shows that for any temperature T, QD gradually decreases with the increase of non-uniform magnetic field |b|, in some regions where C increases while QD decreases. It is also found that thermal quantum discord does not vanish at finite temperatures, but concurrence vanishes completely at a critical temperature. It is shown that for a higher value of JZ, the system has a stronger QD. There is a critical magnetic field B c , which increases with the increasing b. QD decay monotonically (for B < B c ) when temperature T increases, or initially increases to some peaks and then decrease (for B > B c ).

Thermal quantum discord of spins in an inhomogeneous magnetic field

Jin‐Liang Guo, Yingjuan Mi, Jian Zhang +1 more

In contrast with the thermal entanglement, we study the quantum discord and classical correlation in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ model with an inhomogeneous magnetic field. It is shown that the effects of the external magnetic fields, including the uniform and inhomogeneous magnetic fields, on the thermal entanglement, quantum discord and classical correlation behave differently in various aspects, which depend on system temperature and model type. We can tune the inhomogeneous magnetic field to enhance the entanglement or classical correlation and meanwhile decrease the quantum discord. In addition, taking into account the inhomogeneous magnetic field, the sudden change in the behaviour of quantum discord still survives, which can detect the critical points of quantum phase transitions at finite temperature, but not for a uniform magnetic field.

Thermal geometric discords in a two-qubit Heisenberg XY model

Fan Hong-Rui, Yuan Ya-Li, Xi-Wen Hou

We study the influences of the external magnetic field, temperature, and coupling parameter on the thermal quantum correlation in a two-qubit Heisenberg XY model, where the correlation is described in terms of two modified geometric discords and concurrence. It is shown that those three quantities behave similarly in the regions of lower temperature and weak magnetic field. However, the two geometric discords are more robust against temperature and magnetic field than the concurrence. Moreover, two geometric discords exhibit different behaviors under suitable conditions, that is, one discord increases as the magnetic field rises whereas the other discord decreases. In particular, the discord reveals the phenomenon of sudden change, while neither of other discord and concurrence displays such a phenomenon.

We investigate how quantum correlations [quantum discord (QD)] of a two-qubit one-dimensional XYZ\mathit{XYZ}XYZ Heisenberg chain in thermal equilibrium depend on the temperature TTT of the bath and also on an external magnetic field BBB.
