Single-atom laser based on multiphoton resonances at far-off resonance in the Jaynes-Cummings ladder

We propose a scheme of a one-atom laser which produces a cavity-field virtually in a stationary Fock state. It is based upon the unexpectedly simple dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings system at multiphoton resonances at far-off resonance. We find that an anomalously high cavity mode excitation occurs at a particular set of atomic, cavity, and driving-field frequencies.

Parameters of a driven Jaynes–Cummings Hamiltonian

Hiroshi Ajiki

Each parameter in a driven Jaynes–Cummings (JC) model of a cavity system is specified in terms of experimental parameters, such as the transmission coefficient of the mirrors, the length of the cavity, and the intensity of the input coherent field. For this purpose, linear and the third-order nonlinear spectra are calculated from the driven JC model, and the results are compared with those from the universe-mode approach which enables us to treat experimental parameters in a straightforward manner. Although the relationships of the parameters are obtained in the high- Q cavity regime, they are also applicable in the low- Q cavity regime.

Incoherent excitation of the Jaynes-Cummings system

L. Tian, H. J. Carmichael

The authors calculate scattered, transmitted and reflected spectra for a coupled two-level atom and quantized electromagnetic cavity mode driven by broad-band chaotic light. They obtain analytical results in the secular approximation and compare these with exact numerical results. Under cavity QED conditions (strong dipole coupling) the spectra show multiple resonances at the incommensurate transition frequencies of the Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian. They obtain expressions for linewidths and transition amplitudes that help them to assess the prospects for an experimental observation of these Jaynes-Cummings resonances.
