Abstract

Using the method of path decomposition, the space-time propagator for the one-dimensional symmetric double delta potential is determined and tested on the limiting cases a → 0 (single delta) and β → ∞ (infinite square well), which are exactly obtained.

The propagator for the step potential and delta function potential using the path decomposition expansion

James M. Yearsley

We present a derivation of the propagator for a particle in the presence of the step and delta function potentials. These propagators are known, but we present a direct path integral derivation, based on the path decomposition expansion and the Brownian motion definition of the path integral. The derivation exploits properties of the Catalan numbers, which enumerate certain classes of lattice paths.

Propagator for the δ-function potential moving with constant velocity

Bin Kang Cheng, M. G. E. da Luz

We first evaluate the exact propagator for a \ensuremath{\delta}-function potential moving with constant velocity by summing over the spectrum of eigenstates and by calculating the path integral directly. The ``one-time Green's functions'' are then derived from the Fourier transform of the propagator obtained. We finally investigate the propagator through an asymptotic approximation.

The Dirac Propagator for One-Dimensional Finite Square Well

P. Kongkhuntod, Nattapong Yongram

The solution of Dirac particles confined in a one-dimensional finite square well potential is solved by using the path-integral formalism for Dirac equation. The propagator of the Dirac equation in case of the bounded Dirac particles is obtained by evaluating an appropriate path integral, directly constructed from the Dirac equation. The limit of integration techniques for evaluating path integral is only valid for the piecewise constant potential. Finally, the Dirac propagator is expressed in terms of standard special functions.

Path integral solution to a charged particle in an infinite square-well potential with a constant electric field

Kyu Hwang Yeon, Chung‐In Um, Thomas F. George +1 more

The propagator of a charged particle in an infinite square-well potential in one dimension with a constant electric field is solved exactly using Feynman path integration. The wave function of the system is evaluated by the propagator. This wave function depends on time in a way determined by the well size, particle mass and charge, and applied electric field. The uncertainty relation of the system is also obtained by this function.
