Abstract

Numerical simulation of the effect of intramolecular electrostatic interactions on redistribution of relative intensities in the vibrational structure of (1 ~ 2) 1 Π–X 1 Σ + rotationally resolved transitions of the KRb molecule is performed within the precision nonadiabatic model of coupled vibrational channels. It is established that mutual perturbation of electronically excited states modifies in a nontrivial way a nodal structure of nonadiabatic wavefunction of the (1 ~ 2) 1 Π complex, which is possible to use for rising efficiency of twostep laser synthesis and stabilization of ultracold ensembles of KRb molecules in the ground electronic state.

Twofold diabatization of the KRb (1–2)Π1 complex in the framework ofab initioand deperturbation approaches

S. V. Kozlov, E. A. Pazyuk, A. V. Stolyarov

We performed a diabatization of the mutually perturbed $1^{1}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Pi}}$ and $2^{1}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Pi}}$ states of KRb based on both electronic structure calculation and direct coupled-channel deperturbation analysis of experimental energies. The potential energy curves (PECs) of the diabatic states and their scalar coupling were constructed from the ab initio adiabatic PECs by analytically integrating the radial $\ensuremath{\langle}{\ensuremath{\psi}}_{1}^{ad}|\ensuremath{\partial}/\ensuremath{\partial}R|{\ensuremath{\psi}}_{2}^{ad}\ensuremath{\rangle}$ matrix element obtained by a finite-difference method. The diabatic potentials and electronic coupling function were refined by the least squares fitting of the rovibronic term values of the $1{\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}}^{1}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Pi}}\ensuremath{\sim}2{\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}}^{1}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Pi}}$ complex. The empirical PECs combined with the coupling function as well as the diabatized spin-orbit coupling and transition dipole matrix elements are crucial to discovering efficient photoassociation pathways for production of ultracold ground-state KRb molecules.

High resolution Fourier transform spectra (FTS) of laser induced fluorescence (LIF) of $C\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+};D\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Pi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}A\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}--b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}$ and $A\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}--b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}$ transitions in ${\mathrm{Na}}^{85}\mathrm{Rb}$ and ${\mathrm{Na}}^{87}\mathrm{Rb}$ were obtained. An analysis of the direct LIF spectra together with the rotational relaxation satellites provided highly accurate rovibronic term values for $(4\ensuremath{\leqslant}J\ensuremath{\leqslant}163)$ of the $A\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}--b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}$ complex, covering about 1950 mostly singlet levels $0\ensuremath{\leqslant}{v}_{A}\ensuremath{\leqslant}49$ and a considerable number $(>360)$ of the predominantly triplet $b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}_{0,1}$ sublevels. The direct deperturbation analysis of the singlet-triplet $A--b$ complex was performed by means of the inverted channel-coupling approach with Hund's coupling case $\mathbf{a}$ basis functions. The electronic matrix elements of the model $4\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}4$ Hamiltonian were defined as piecewise analytical functions of the internuclear distance. Besides the Born-Oppenheimer potential energy curves of the mutually perturbed states and the off-diagonal spin-orbit (SO) $A--b$ coupling function, the SO splitting of the $b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}$ state was determined due to the pronounced electronic-rotation interaction between the $b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}_{0}$ and $b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}_{1}$ components observed for high $J$ levels. Overall, 24 mass-invariant fitting parameters have been required to reproduce about 2300 experimental term values of both isotopomers with a standard deviation of $0.012\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$, which is consistent with the uncertainty of the FTS experiment. An analytical mapping procedure based on a reduced variable representation of the radial coordinate was used to diminish the computational effort for the uniform finite-difference grid solution of the coupled-channel equations. The derived nonadiabatic $A--b$ wave functions were used to evaluate the $A\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}--b\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Pi}--D\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Pi}$, $a\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}$, $X\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{1}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}$ rovibronic transition probabilities. The relative intensity distributions predicted for the $D\ensuremath{\rightarrow}A--b$ and $A--b\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X$ LIF progressions agree with their experimental counterparts within the accuracy of the measurements. The calculated $A--b--a$, $X$ transition probabilities were applied for simulation of the stimulated Raman $a\ensuremath{\rightarrow}A--b\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X$ processes, which can lead to efficient formation of ultracold NaRb molecules in the ground level ${v}_{X}=0$; ${J}_{X}=0$.

Spectroscopic analysis of the coupled 11Π, 23Σ+ (Ω = 0−, 1), and b3Π (Ω = 0±, 1, 2) states of the KRb molecule using both ultracold molecules and molecular beam experiments

Jin‐Tae Kim, Yonghoon Lee, Bongsoo Kim +4 more

We report the spectroscopic characterization of excited electronic states of KRb by combining spectra from molecular beam (MB) experiments with those from ultracold molecules (UM) formed by photoassociation (PA) of ultracold atoms. Spectra involving the 1(1)Π, 2(3)Σ(+), and b(3)Π states in a strongly perturbed region have been identified. This approach provides a powerful method to identify the vibrational levels of the excited electronic states perturbed globally by neighboring electronic states. This is because the two sets of spectra from the UM and the MB experiments probe the same energy region from very different initial electronic states. The UM experiments utilize high v'' levels of the a(3)Σ(+) state with large internuclear separations, while the MB experiments utilize low v'' levels of the ground X(1)Σ(+) state with near-equilibrium internuclear separations. Only the Ω = 1 levels of the 2(3)Σ(+) and b(3)Π states are observed in the MB spectra, while the Ω = 0(-), 1 levels of the 2(3)Σ(+) state and the Ω = 0(±), 1, 2 levels of the b(3)Π state are observed in the UM spectra.

Vibrational stabilization of ultracold KRb molecules: A comparative study

Mamadou Ndong, Christiane P. Koch

The transfer of weakly bound KRb molecules from levels just below the dissociation threshold into the vibrational ground state with shaped laser pulses is studied. Optimal control theory is employed to calculate the pulses. The complexity of modeling the molecular structure is successively increased in order to study the effects of the long-range behavior of the excited-state potential, resonant spin-orbit coupling, and singlet-triplet mixing.

Modeling Photoassociative Spectra of Ultracold NaK + K

Baraa Shammout, Leon Karpa, Silke Ospelkaus +2 more

High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide A model for photoassociation of ultracold atoms and molecules is presented and applied to the case of 39 K and 23 Na 39 K bosonic particles. The model relies on the assumption that photoassociation is dominated by long-range atom-molecule interactions well outside the chemical bond region. The frequency of the photoassociation laser is chosen close to a bound–bound rovibronic transition from the X 1 Σ + ground state toward the metastable b 3 Π lowest excited state of 23 Na 39 K, allowing us to neglect any other excitation, which could hinder the photoassociation detection. The energy level structure of the long-range 39 K··· 23 Na 39 K excited super-dimer is computed in the space-fixed frame by solving coupled-channel equations, involving the coupling between the 23 Na 39 K internal rotation and the mechanical rotation of the super-dimer complex. A quite rich structure is obtained, and the corresponding photoassociation rates are presented. Other possible photoassociation transitions are discussed in the context of the proposed model.
