Abstract

The work is devoted to the investigation of the weakly bound three-body atomic clusters. The calculations on the van der Waals trimer 7 Li 4 He 2 are carried out using the differential Faddeev equations, which allows us to give accurate binding energies for both the ground and the exited state of the system. The results obtained indicate the Efimov nature of the excited state in this system.

INVESTIGATION OF THREE-ATOMIC CLUSTERS WITHIN FADDEEV EQUATIONS

Elena A. Kolganova, O. P. Klimenko, A. A. Korobitsin +2 more

The binding energies of 4He3 and 4He26Li three-atomic clusters were calculated within the differential Faddeev equations. Obtained results show that different methods provide similar results for different potential models. It is shown that the excited state energy of each system is close to it’s respective two-body threshold, which could indicate on the Efimov nature of the excited state of 4He26Li.

A theoretical study of van der Waals neon trimer using Faddeev equations

A. A. Korobitsin, Elena A. Kolganova

The properties of two- and three-atomic clusters of neon are studied. Based on the Faddeev differential equations in the total angular momentum representation, we have calculated the lowest binding energies for the neon trimer. The results obtained are compared with previous published results

Prediction of a weakly bound excited state of Efimov character in a Li7He24 system

M.-S. Wu, Hui-Li Han, Chengbin Li +1 more

We carry out calculations on the van der Waals trimer $^{7}\mathrm{Li}^{4}\mathrm{He}_{2}$ using the mapping method within the frame of hyperspherical coordinates, which allows us to give accurate binding energies and wave functions for both the ground and excited state of the system. When the realistic two-body potentials are adopted, the system presents an excited state which shows Efimov character. We study the range of the interaction strength in which the excited state could exist and find that the state persists within the experiment error band for binding energy of LiHe molecule. We also study the three-body parameter (3BP) of $^{7}\mathrm{Li}^{4}\mathrm{He}_{2}$ system and its relationship with the background scattering length ${a}_{\text{HeHe}}$. Our calculations demonstrate that the 3BP of $^{7}\mathrm{Li}^{4}\mathrm{He}_{2}$ system is dependent on the value of the scattering length ${a}_{\text{HeHe}}$, independent of the short-range details of the He-He interaction. The results confirm the prediction of Wang et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 243201 (2012)] that the 3BP for a heteronuclear atomic system is universally determined from the van der Waals lengths and the homonuclear scattering length.

The structure of the atomic helium trimers: halos and Efimov states

Esben Nielsen, D. V. Fedorov, A. S. Jensen

The Faddeev equations for the atomic helium-trimer systems are solved numerically with high accuracy both for the most sophisticated realistic potentials available and for simple phenomenological potentials. An efficient numerical procedure is described. The large-distance asymptotic behaviour, crucial for weakly bound three-body systems, is described almost analytically for arbitrary potentials. The Efimov effect is especially considered. The geometric structures of the bound states are quantitatively investigated. The accuracy of the schematic models and previous computations is comparable, i.e. within 20% for the spatially extended states and within 40% for the smaller -trimer ground state.

Weakly bound triatomic He2Li and He2Na molecules

Jianmin Yuan, C. D. Lin

We study the existence of stable bound states of triatomic molecules containing two helium atoms and one alkali atom X (X = Li, Na) and examine the dependence of their binding energies on the mass of the constituent atoms. The three-body systems are solved within the adiabatic approximation in hyperspherical coordinates using the He - He and He - X pair van der Waals interactions that are available in the literature. The binding energies of these systems are shown to be of less than 1 K for some isotope combinations. For the lighter isotopes it is shown that no bound states exist. We found no evidence of the existence of halo states or Efimov states for these systems.

Simple model for analyzing Efimov energy and three-body recombination of three identical bosons with van der Waals interactions

Jing-Lun Li, Xue‐Jin Hu, Yong‐Chang Han +1 more

We construct a simple model to calculate the trimer bound state energy ${E}_{T}^{(n)}$ and three-body recombination rate ${K}_{3}^{0}$ of three identical bosons with van der Waals interaction without using any two- or three-body fitting parameter. Using this simple model, we investigate the influence of the van der Waals finite-range effect on ${E}_{T}^{(n)}$ and ${K}_{3}^{0}$. Our calculation shows that the finite-range effect leads to the ground trimer state energy ${E}_{T}^{(0)}$ not crossing the atom-dimer threshold, and the scaled three-body recombination rate ${K}_{3}^{0}/{a}^{4}$ deviating from the universal three-body theory. The results of our simple model agree within a few percent with other theoretical works with van der Waals interaction and also the experimental data.
