Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of dual-hop decode-and-forward cognitive relay networks taking into account the channel correlation between the main and wiretapping channels. For the enhancement of the secrecy performance, a generalized relay selection scheme is utilized, where the$k$th strongest relay node is selected based on the main channel. In order to analyze the impact of key parameters on the secrecy performance, we first derive the exact closed-form expression for secrecy outage probability (SOP) of the considered networks. Moreover, to extract deep insights, the asymptotic approximation for SOP in high main-to-eavesdropper ratio (MER) regime is also provided. Our theoretical results as well as simulations demonstrate that: 1) the channel correlation does not affect the achievable secrecy diversity order, but has a positive impact on the secrecy coding gain in high MER regime; 2) the secrecy diversity order is decided by the generalized selection coefficient and the number of relays that can successfully decode the information transmitted from the secondary transmitter; and 3) the total amount of relays cannot influence the secrecy diversity order directly, but has a significant impact on the secrecy coding gain.

Cooperation Diversity for Secrecy Enhancement in Cognitive Relay Wiretap Network Over Correlated Fading Channels

Mu Li, Hao Yin, Yuzhen Huang +2 more

In this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of dual-hop randomize-and-forward (RaF) cognitive relay multi-channel wiretap networks over correlated fading channels, in which the eavesdropper can wiretap the information from source and relays simultaneously. Specifically, in order to enhance the secrecy performance, we introduce two cooperation diversity schemes: 1) traditional partial relay selection (TPRS), where an optimal relay is selected to receive-and-forward the information based on the channel quality between the source and relays and 2) decoding threshold-aided optimal relay selection (DTaORS), where an optimal relay is selected from the threshold-based relay set based on the channel quality between the relays and destination. For these criteria, we analyze the secrecy performance of two cooperation diversity schemes by deriving the exact and asymptotic expressions for the secrecy outage probability of cognitive relay wiretap networks over correlated fading channels. From the results, we conclude that: 1) even though the channel correlation does not influence the secrecy diversity order, it is beneficial to the secrecy coding gain in high main-to-eavesdropper ratio regime; 2) DTaORS with an appropriate decoding rate can achieve better secrecy performance than TPRS. However, affected by the multi-channel wiretap, both of DTaORS and TPRS can not increase the secrecy diversity order any more, which is always equal to 1; and 3) the secrecy performance with a RaF scheme is better than that with a decode-and-forward scheme in multi-channel wiretap scenario.

Secrecy Performance Analysis in MISOSE Cognitive Radio Networks Over Correlated Fading Channels

Mu Li, Hao Yin, Yuzhen Huang +3 more

I265 this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of multi-input single-output and single-eavesdropper (MISOSE) cognitive radio (CR) networks over correlated fading channels. For the security enhancement, the transmit antenna selection (TAS) scheme is used to select the best transmit antenna at Alice based on the main channel. In order to analyze the impact of channel correlation coefficient, interference temperature threshold and antenna numbers on the secrecy performance, we firstly derive the exact closed-form expression of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) for the considered system taking into account the correlation between the main channel and wiretapping channel. Moreover, to extract more deep insights, the asymptotic expression of SOP in high main-to-eavesdropper ratio (MER) regime is also derived, which reveals that the channel correlation does not degrade the secrecy diversity order and even can strengthen the secrecy performance in high MER regime. Finally, numerical results are provided to demonstrate the correctness and accuracy of our analysis.

Secrecy Cooperative Networks With Outdated Relay Selection Over Correlated Fading Channels

Lisheng Fan, Xianfu Lei, Nan Yang +2 more

In this paper, we study the impact of correlated fading on the secrecy performance of multiple decode-and-forward (DF) relaying with outdated relay selection. It is assumed that the information transmission, assisted by N DF relays from the source to the destination, can be overheard by an eavesdropper. Particularly, we consider the realistic scenario where the eavesdropper's and the main channels are correlated. In order to enhance the network security, the best relay is selected among N available DF relays to assist the secure transmission. Due to the time-varying channel environments, we note that the selected relay may be outdated. In order to study the impact of both channel correlation and outdated relay selection on the secrecy performance, we first derive an analytical expression for the secrecy outage probability (SOP). Also, we derive the asymptotic expression for the SOP in the high main-to-eavesdropper ratio regime. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the correctness of our analytical expressions.

Secure Multiple Amplify-and-Forward Relaying Over Correlated Fading Channels

Lisheng Fan, Rui Zhao, Fengkui Gong +2 more

This paper quantifies the impact of correlated fading on secure communication of multiple amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying networks. In such a network, the base station (BS) is equipped with multiple antennas and communicates with the destination through multiple AF relays, while the message from the relays can be overheard by an eavesdropper. We focus on the practical communication scenario, where the main and eavesdropper's channels are correlated. In order to enhance the transmission security, transmit antenna selection is performed at the BS, and the best relay is chosen according to the full- or partial-relay selection criterion, which relies on the dual-hop relay channels or the second-hop relay channels, respectively. For these criteria, we study the impact of correlated fading on the network secrecy performance, by deriving an analytical approximation for the secrecy outage probability and an asymptotic expression for the high main-to-eavesdropper ratio. From these results, it is concluded that the channel correlation is always beneficial to the secrecy performance of full relay selection. However, it deteriorates the secrecy performance if partial-relay selection is used, when the number of antennas at the BS is less than the number of relays.

Secure Spectrum-Sharing Wiretap Networks With Full-Duplex Relaying

Zhihui Shang, Tao Zhang, Yueming Cai +2 more

In this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of dual-hop randomize-and-forward (RaF) cognitive wiretap networks over Rayleigh fading channels, in which the RaF relay is considered both as half-duplex (HD) and full-duplex (FD) operations. Specifically, for the HD, maximal-ratio combining/maximal-ratio transmission (MRC/MRT) is adopted at the RaF relay. For the FD, the RaF relay can simultaneously receive the signal from the source and transmit jamming signals to eavesdropper, and the selection combining-zero forcing beamforming/maximal-ratio transmit (SC-ZFB/MRT) and SC-ZFB/ZFB schemes are respectively adopted at the FD relay. To thoroughly assess the secrecy performance achieved from the proposed schemes, the closed-form expressions for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) of the dual-hop RaF cognitive wiretap channels with MRC/MRT, SC-ZFB/MRT and SC-ZFB/ZFB schemes are derived, respectively. In addition, we also provide simple asymptotic approximations for the SOP under two distinct scenarios, depending on the quality of the main and wiretap channels. Additionally, our analytical results and numerical simulations show the efficiency of our proposed solutions for both SC-ZFB/MRT and SC-ZFB/ZFB with FD cases and show considerable performance gains over MRC/MRT with HD scheme. Finally, for the proposed schemes, the SC-ZFB/ZFB scheme is beneficial to improve secrecy performance when the eavesdropper's channel is better than the main channel and the RaF relaying strategy achieves better secrecy performance than that of the decode-and-forward (DF) relaying strategy for dual-hop cognitive wiretap networks.

The Security of Cognitive Multiuser Networks Over Space-and-Time Correlated Channels

Mu Li, Hao Yin, Yuzhen Huang +2 more

In this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of cognitive multi-input multi-output multiuser (MIMO-MU) wiretap networks over space-and-time correlated fading channels. Specifically, we propose a joint transmit antenna selection (TAS) and multiuser scheduling scheme to improve the security of the considered system. To thoroughly analyze the impact of the joint TAS and multiuser scheduling scheme and the channel correlation on the physical layer security, the new exact and asymptotic closed-form expressions for the secrecy outage probability of cognitive MIMO-MU wiretap networks are derived in two distinct scenarios, i.e., space-and-time correlated fading channels and independent-and-perfect fading channels. From the theoretical and simulation results, several important remarks are concluded as follows. 1) The channel space correlation does not affect the achievable secrecy diversity order in a high main-to-eavesdropper ratio (MER) regime. While it produces different impacts on the secrecy performance with different values of the MER in a low MER regime. 2) The channel time correlation on the main channel can reduce the achievable secrecy diversity order from$N_{\rm A}N_{\rm B}$to 1. 3) The joint TAS and multiuser scheduling scheme can achieve better performance than the traditional random scheduling scheme over space-and-time correlated fading channels.
