Construction of an Optimal Witness for Unknown Two-Qubit Entanglement

H.S. Park, Seung‐Sup B. Lee, Heonoh Kim +2 more

Whether entanglement in a state can be detected, distilled, and quantified without full state reconstruction is a fundamental open problem. We demonstrate a new scheme encompassing these three tasks for arbitrary two-qubit entanglement, by constructing the optimal entanglement witness for polarization-entangled mixed-state photon pairs without full state reconstruction. With better efficiency than quantum state tomography, the entanglement is maximally distilled by newly developed tunable polarization filters and quantified by the expectation value of the witness, which equals the concurrence. This scheme is extendible to multiqubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger entanglement.

Universal observable detecting all two-qubit entanglement and determinant-based separability tests

Remigiusz Augusiak, Maciej Demianowicz, Paweł Horodecki

We construct a single observable, measurement of whose mean value on four copies of an unknown two-qubit state is sufficient to determine unambiguously whether the state is separable or entangled. In other words, there exists a universal collective entanglement witness detecting all two-qubit entanglement. The test is directly linked to a function that characterizes the entanglement quantitatively to some extent. This function is an entanglement monotone under so-called local pure operations and classical communication which preserve local dimensions. Moreover, it provides tight upper and lower bounds for negativity and concurrence. An elementary quantum computing device estimating unknown two-qubit entanglement is designed.

Construction of entanglement witnesses based on concurrence for multi-qubit states

Hoshang Heydari

We establish a relation between concurrence and entanglement witnesses. In particular, we construct entanglement witnesses for three-qubit W and GHZ states in terms of concurrence. We also generalize our construction for multi-qubit states. This result gives the finest entanglement witnesses for a given class of state without any optimization.
