Abstract

We study a class of entropic inequalities obtained for noncomposite quantum system realized by a many-level superconducting circuit. By using a mapping on bipartite quantum states, we consider possible realization schemes of various quantum logic gates for noncomposite quantum systems. In this framework, we discuss logN entropic inequalities for Shannon and R eniy entropies based on the quantum Fourier transform. Implementation of the quantum Fourier transform on a quantum processor based on many-level superconducting circuits opens a way for experimental verication of logN entropic inequalities.

Multilevel superconducting circuits as two-qubit systems: Operations, state preparation, and entropic inequalities

Evgeniy O. Kiktenko, Aleksey K. Fedorov, Olga V. Man’ko +1 more

We theoretically study operations with a four-level superconducting circuit as a two-qubit system. Using a mapping on a two-qubit system, we show how to implement iswap gates and Hadamard gates through pulses on transitions between particular pairs of energy levels. Our approach allows one to prepare pure two-qubit entangled states with desired form of reduced density matrices of the same purity and, in particular, arbitrary identical reduced states of qubits. We propose using schemes for the Hadamard gate and two-qubit entangled states with identical reduced density matrices in order to verify $logN$ inequalities for Shannon and R\'enyi entropies for the considered noncomposite quantum system.

Properties of Nonnegative Hermitian Matrices and New Entropic Inequalities for Noncomposite Quantum Systems

Margarita A. Man’ko, Vladimir I. Man’ko

We consider the probability distributions, spin (qudit)-state tomograms and density matrices of quantum states, and their information characteristics, such as Shannon and von Neumann entropies and q-entropies, from the viewpoints of both well-known purely mathematical features of nonnegative numbers and nonnegative matrices and their physical characteristics, such as entanglement and other quantum correlation phenomena. We review entropic inequalities such as the Araki–Lieb inequality and the subadditivity and strong subadditivity conditions known for bipartite and tripartite systems, and recently obtained for single qudit states. We present explicit matrix forms of the known and some new entropic inequalities associated with quantum states of composite and noncomposite systems. We discuss the tomographic probability distributions of qudit states and demonstrate the inequalities for tomographic entropies of the qudit states. In addition, we mention a possibility to use the discussed information properties of single qudit states in quantum technologies based on multilevel atoms and quantum circuits produced of Josephson junctions.

Hidden Correlations in Indivisible Qudits as a Resource for Quantum Technologies on Examples of Superconducting Circuits

Margarita A. Man’ko, Vladimir I. Man’ko

We show that the density-matrix states of noncomposite qudit systems satisfy entropic and information relations like the subadditivity condition, strong subadditivity condition, and Araki-Lieb inequality, which characterize hidden quantum correlations of observables associated with these indivisible systems. We derive these relations employing a specific map of the entropic inequalities known for density matrices of multiqudit systems to the inequalities for density matrices of single-qudit systems. We present the obtained relations in the form of mathematical inequalities for arbitrary Hermitian N × N -matrices. We consider examples of superconducting qubits and qudits. We discuss the hidden correlations in single- qudit states as a new resource for quantum technologies analogous to the known resource in correlations associated with the entanglement in multiqudit systems.

Simulation of Two‐Qubit Gates with a Superconducting Qudit

Yuqian Dong, Qiang Liu, Jianhua Wang +7 more

Herein, a two‐qubit system is experimentally simulated through a four‐level superconducting circuit. By mapping the energy levels of the two‐qubit system to a noncomposite system, some two‐qubit gates with designed microwave pulses, such as Hadamard and CNOT gates, are implemented. Furthermore, the Shannon entropy of the simulated two‐qubit system is measured and the log 2 uncertainty relation is verified, which describes that the noncomposite single‐qudit system possesses hidden quantum correlations.

Quantum correlations expressed as information and entropic inequalities for composite and noncomposite systems

Margarita A Man'ko, Vladimir I Man'ko

For noncomposite systems in classical and quantum domains, we obtain new inequalities such as the subadditivity and strong subadditivity conditions for Shannon entropies and information determined by the probability distributions and for von Neumann entropies of quantum states determined by the density operators. We extend the relations of Shannon and Tsallis entropies to the entropies of conditional probability distributions known for composite systems to the case of noncomposite systems. We give a review of the approach to construct the tomographic-probability distributions for qudit systems and present the entropic and information inequalities for spin tomograms, as well as the subadditivity and strong subadditivity conditions for tomograms of the both noncomposite and composite system states.

Entopy-energy inequality for superconducting qutrit

Vladimir I. Man’ko, Liubov A. Markovich

We compare the entropy-energy inequality and the von Neumann entropic inequality for three level atom implemented on superconducting circuits with Josephson junction. The positivity of entropy and energy relations for the qutrit system are used for verification of state tomography of qudit systems. The results obtained are valid for generic quantum states (qudits) and are illustrated on the example of the temperature density matrix of the single qutrit state.
