The reduced density matrix of an interacting system can be used as the basis for a truncation scheme, or in an unbiased method to discover the strongest kind of correlation in the ground state. In this paper, we investigate the structure of the many-body fermion density matrix of a small cluster in a square lattice. The cluster density matrix is evaluated numerically over a set of finite systems, subject to nonsquare periodic boundary conditions given by the lattice vectors ${\mathbf{R}}_{1}\ensuremath{\equiv}({R}_{1x},{R}_{1y})$ and ${\mathbf{R}}_{2}\ensuremath{\equiv}({R}_{2x},{R}_{2y})$. We then approximate the infinite-system cluster density-matrix spectrum by averaging the finite-system cluster density matrix (i) over degeneracies in the ground state, and orientations of the system relative to the cluster, to ensure it has the proper point-group symmetry; and (ii) over various twist boundary conditions to reduce finite size effects. We then compare the eigenvalue structure of the averaged cluster density matrix for noninteracting and strongly interacting spinless fermions, as a function of the filling fraction
n, and discuss whether it can be approximated as being built up from a truncated set of single-particle operators.
We study a mixture of
Nb bosons with point hard-core boson-boson interactions and
Nf noninteracting spinless fermions with point hard-core boson-fermion interactions in 1D optical lattice with external harmonic confine potential. Using an extended Jordan-Winger transformation (JWT) which maps the hard-core Bose-Fermi mixture into two component noninteracting spinless fermions with hard-core interactions between them, we get the ground states of the system. Then we determine in details the one particle density matrix, density profile, momentum distribution, the natural orbitals and their occupations based on the constructed ground state wavefunctions. We also discuss the ground state properties of the system with large but finite interactions which lead to the lift of ground degeneracy. Our results show that, although the total density profile is almost not affected, the distributions for bosons and fermions strongly depend on the relative strengthes of boson-boson interactions and boson-fermion interactions.
We study the average density of
N spinless noninteracting fermions in a
2d harmonic trap rotating with a constant frequency
Ω and in the presence of an additional repulsive central potential
γ/r2. The average density at zero temperature was recently studied in Phys. Rev. A
103, 033321 (2021) and an interesting multi-layered "wedding cake" structure with a "hole" at the center was found for the density in the large
N limit. In this paper, we study the average density at finite temperature. We demonstrate how this "wedding-cake" structure is modified at finite temperature. These large
N results warrant going much beyond the standard Local Density Approximation. We also generalize our results to a wide variety of trapping potentials and demonstrate the universality of the associated scaling functions both in the bulk and at the edges of the "wedding-cake".
