With a view to getting further insight into the solutions of one-dimensional analogous Schr?dinger equation for a non-hermitian (complex) Hamiltonian system, we investigate the quasi-exact PT- symmetric solutions for an octic potential and its variant using extended complex phase space approach characterized by x=x1+ip2, p=p1+ix2, where (x1, p1) and (x2, p2) are real and considered as canonical pairs. Besides the complexity of the phase space, complexity of potential parameters is also considered. The analyticity property of the eigenfunction alone is found sufficient to throw light on the nature of eigenvalue and eigenfunction of a system. The imaginary part of energy eigenvalue of a non-hermitian Hamiltonian exist for complex potential parameters and reduces to zero for real parameters. However, in the present work, it is found that imaginary component of the energy eigenvalue vanishes even when potential parameters are complex, provided that PT-symmetric condition is satisfied. Thus PT- symmetric version of a non-hermitian Hamiltonian possesses the real eigenvalue.
Six years ago, by using operator techniques and path-integral methods, it was shown that the complex non-Hermitian PT-symmetric Hamiltonian ${p}^{2}\ensuremath{-}g{x}^{4}$ is equivalent to a conventional Hermitian Hamiltonian ${p}^{2}+4g{x}^{4}\ensuremath{-}2\ensuremath{\hbar}\sqrt{g}x$. Further it was revealed that the linear term in the Hermitian Hamiltonian is anomalous in the sense that it has no classical analog. In this paper we show that the complex non-Hermitian PT-symmetric Hamiltonian ${p}^{2}\ensuremath{-}g{x}^{4}+4i\ensuremath{\hbar}\sqrt{g}x$ and the conventional Hermitian Hamiltonian ${p}^{2}+4g{x}^{4}+6\ensuremath{\hbar}\sqrt{g}x$ have the same eigenspectra. In this case, the anomalous terms in both Hamiltonians are different from the previous one and vanish in the semiclassical limit. Further these equivalent Hamiltonians have zero-energy ground states. The exact ground-state wave functions and supersymmetric partner potentials are derived.
Spectral statistics probe integrability versus chaos and have recently been extended to Markovian open quantum systems described by Lindbladians, whose quantum-trajectory unraveling decomposes the evolution into no-jump dynamics generated by an effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian and recycling jumps. In this work, we perform spectrum-statistics diagnostics for Lindbladians and their effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonians. We show that recycling processes, symmetry constraints, and the Liouville-space structure crucially shape the spectral correlations. In particular, we identify a family of spectrally separable Lindbladians whose spectra exhibit robust Poisson statistics, despite the effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian varying from Poisson to strongly correlated complex-spectrum statistics. Our work establishes a unified spectral-statistics characterization for Lindbladians and their associated effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonians, deepening our understanding of spectral properties in open many-body systems.
This thesis is centred around the role of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians in Physics both at the quantum and classical levels. In our investigations of two-level models we demonstrate [1] the phenomenon of fast transitions developed in the PT -symmetric quantum brachistochrone problem may in fact be attributed to the non-Hermiticity of evolution operator used, rather than to its invariance under PT operation. Transition probabilities are calculated for Hamiltonians which explicitly violate PT -symmetry. When it comes to Hilbert spaces of infinite dimension, starting with non-Hermitian Hamiltonians expressed as linear and quadratic combinations of the generators of the su(1; 1) Lie algebra, we construct [2] Hermitian partners in the same similarity class. Alongside, metrics with respect to which the original Hamiltonians are Hermitian are also constructed, allowing to assign meaning to a large class of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians possessing real spectra. The finding of exact results to establish the physical acceptability of other non-Hermitian models may be pursued by other means, especially if the system of interest cannot be expressed in terms of Lie algebraic elements. We also employ [3] a representation of the canonical commutation relations for position and momentum operators in terms of real-valued functions and a noncommutative product rule of differential form. Besides exact solutions, we also compute in a perturbative fashion metrics and isospectral partners for systems of physical interest. Classically, our efforts were concentrated on integrable models presenting PT - symmetry. Because the latter can also establish the reality of energies in classical systems described by Hamiltonian functions, we search for new families of nonlinear differential equations for which the presence of hidden symmetries allows one to assemble exact solutions. We use [4] the Painleve test to check whether deformations of integrable systems preserve integrability. Moreover we compare [5] integrable deformed models, which are thus likely to possess soliton solutions, to a broader class of systems presenting compacton solutions. Finally we study [6] the pole structure of certain real valued nonlinear integrable systems and establish that they behave as interacting particles whose motion can be extended to the complex plane in a PT -symmetric way.
