Abstract

We propose an effective mechanism to couple superconducting charge and flux qubits by using a quantized nanomechanical resonator. The coupling between the charge and flux qubits can be controlled by the external flux of the charge qubit. Under the strong coupling limit, an iSWAP gate can be generated by this scheme. The experimental feasibility in our scheme is also presented.

Controllable coupling between flux qubit and nanomechanical resonator by magnetic field

Fei Xue, Y D Wang, C. P. Sun +3 more

We propose an active mechanism for coupling the quantized mode of a nanomechanical resonator to the persistent current in the loop of a superconducting Josephson junction (or phase slip) flux qubit. This coupling is independently controlled by an external coupling magnetic field. The whole system forms a novel solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) architecture in the strong coupling limit. This architecture can be used to demonstrate quantum optics phenomena and coherently manipulate the qubit for quantum information processing. The coupling mechanism is applicable for more generalized situations where the superconducting Josephson junction system is a multi-level system. We also address the practical issues concerning experimental realization.

Generating squeezed states of a nanomechanical resonator via a charge qubit in a hybrid system

Chao-Quan Wang, Jian Zou, Zhi‐Ming Zhang

We propose a scheme for generating squeezed states of a nanomechanical resonator. The scheme is based on a hybrid system consisting of two NAMRs and a superconducting charge qubit (SCCQ). The nonlinear interaction between the two nanomechanical resonators (NAMRs) can be implemented by setting the external biased flux of the SCCQ at some certain values, which plays the role of “nonlinear media”. The noise in the SCCQ does not need to be considered, since we can adiabatically keep the SCCQ at the ground state. In addition, the squeezing parameters can also be adjusted by changing the external driving voltage.

Bell States and Two-Qubit Logic Gate with Superconducting Charge Qubits Coupling to a Nanomechanical Resonator

Jie‐Qiao Liao, Wang Xin-Wen

We propose a scheme for generating Bell states involving two SQUID-based charge qubits by coupling them to a nanomechanical resonator. We also show that it is possible to implement a two-qubit logic gate between the two charge qubits by choosing carefully the interaction time.

Coupling a single NV center to a superconducting flux qubit via a nanomechanical resonator

Xinke Li, Sheng-li Ma, Ya-long Ren +2 more

We investigate the hybrid quantum system of a superconducting flux qubit, a single electronic spin associated with a negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV) center in diamond, and a high-quality magnetized nanomechanical resonator (NAMR). It is shown that the quantized motion of the NAMR can strongly couple to both the NV spin and the flux qubit. We estimate that the coupling strength of the NAMR to both the NV spin and the flux qubit can be about 2 π × 100 kHz, which is one order of magnitude larger than direct spin–qubit coupling. This enables the quantum state transfer to be faster and more robust against decoherence. The present work may provide an appealing way for quantum information processing based on hybrid solid-state quantum systems.

Quantum logic gates with controllable and selective interaction for superconducting charge qubits via a nanomechanical resonator

Jie‐Qiao Liao, Qin-Qin Wu, Le‐Man Kuang

In this paper, we propose a scheme to implement two-qubit logic gates with a controllable and selective interaction in a scalable superconducting circuit of charge qubits. A nanomechanical resonator is used as a data bus to connect qubits. It is indicated that a controllable interaction between qubits can be obtained by making use of the data bus. It is shown that a selective interaction between qubits can be realized when many qubits are involved in the system under our consideration.

Generating the Schrödinger cat state in a nanomechanical resonator coupled to a charge qubit

Jian‐Qi Zhang, Wei Xiong, Shuo Zhang +2 more

A scheme for generating the Schrödinger cat state based on geometric operations by a nanomechanical resonator coupled to a superconducting charge qubit is proposed. The charge qubit, driven by two strong classical fields, interacts with a high‐frequency phonon mode of the nanomechanical resonator. During the operation, the charge qubit undergoes no real transitions, while the phonon mode of the nanomechanical resonator is displaced along different paths in the phase space, dependent on the states of the charge qubit. This generates the entangled cat state between the NAMR and charge qubit, and the NAMR cat state can be achieved after some operations applied on this entangled cat state. The robustness of the scheme is justified by considering noise from environment, and the feasibility of the scheme is discussed.
