Entanglement of a Laguerre-Gaussian cavity mode with a rotating mirror

Mishkatul Bhattacharya, Pierre-Louis Giscard, Pierre Meystre

It has previously been shown theoretically that the exchange of linear momentum between the light field in an optical cavity and a vibrating end mirror can entangle the electromagnetic field with the vibrational motion of that mirror. In this paper we consider the rotational analog of this situation and show that radiation torque can similarly entangle a Laguerre-Gaussian cavity mode with a rotating end mirror. We examine the mirror-field entanglement as a function of ambient temperature, radiation detuning, and orbital angular momentum carried by the cavity mode.

Stationary Entanglement between Two Rotating Mirrors in a Laguerre–Gaussian Rotational‐Cavity Optomechanical System with an Optical Parametric Amplifier

Sumei Huang, Li Deng, Aixi Chen

Abstract Generation of entanglement between macroscale mechanical oscillators is challenging yet important for future quantum technologies. Here, the possibility of creating a steady‐state entanglement between two rotating mirrors in a Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) rotational‐cavity optomechanical system by placing an especially tuned degenerate optical parametric amplifier (OPA) inside the cavity is theoretically explored. In the resolved‐sideband regime, a LG cavity mode is driven by a Gaussian laser beam tuned to the first lower mechanical sideband. The Duan quantity and the logarithmic negativity is used to study the stationary entanglement between two rotating mirrors. The influence of the parametric gain and phase of the OPA, the input laser power, the temperature of the environment, and the topological charge of the LG cavity mode on the mechanical entanglement are investigated. The achievable maximal degree of entanglement is limited by the parametric gain of the OPA.

Entanglement of two rotating mirrors coupled to a single Laguerre-Gaussian cavity mode

Zheng Chen, Jia‐Xin Peng, Jingjing Fu +1 more

We theoretically investigate the entanglement between two macroscopic rotating mirrors in a Laguerre-Gaussian (L-G) cavity, in which they exchange orbital angular momentum with a same L-G cavity mode, and we examine the influence of various factors such as angular frequencies of two mirrors, effective detuning, temperature and orbital angular momentum of L-G cavity mode on the entanglement. The results show that in some range of mirrors' angular frequencies the entanglement will appear and has strong robustness. And we also study the range of effective detuning and the minimum orbital angular momentum of the L-G cavity mode required to generate entanglement.
