Attosecond chirp effect on the transient absorption spectrum of laser-dressed helium atom

H. W. Zhao, Candong Liu, Yinghui Zheng +2 more

We theoretically investigate the attosecond transient absorption spectrum of helium atom in the presence of an infrared-dressed laser pulse upon scanning their relative delay, with the particular emphasis on the chirp effect of the attosecond pulse. By numerically solving the fully three-dimensional time-dependent Schrödinger equation, we identify the attoscecond chirp can induce the temporal shift of the absorption spectrogram along the delay axis. Additionally, it is found that the extent of the temporal shift is dependent on both the position of the absorption line and the infrared pulse wavelength, which is well confirmed and reproduced by a three-level model. Moreover, we demonstrate that the observed features can be quantitatively explained in terms of the indirect two-photon absorption processes through some virtual states. This effect might provide a way to measure the chirp of attosecond pulse in an all-optical way.

Dynamic of Scaled Atomic Phase Entropy of a Single Two-Level Atom Interaction with SU(1,1) Quantum System

M. M. A. Ahmed, M. Qothamey, S. Abdel‐Khalek

In this paper, we study the dynamics of the atomic inversion, scaled atomic Wehrl entropy and marginal atomic Q-function for a single two-level atom interacting with SU(1,1) quantum system. We obtain the wave function and system density matrix using specific initial conditions. We examine the effects of different parameter s on the scaled atomic Wehrl entropy, atomic Q-function and their marginal distribution. We observe an interesting monotonic relation between the different physical quantities for different values of the initial atomic position and detuning parameter

Single-atom dynamics revealed by photon correlations

V. Gomer, Frank Strauch, B. Ueberholz +2 more

We have studied a single neutral atom stored in a magneto-optical trap by recording arrival times of fluorescence photons emitted by the atom. Photon correlations at nanosecond scales (Rabi oscillations), at microseconds (intensity and polarization correlations), and also at milliseconds (position correlations) reveal the dynamical behavior of the atomic excitation, of the atomic orientation, and of its transport in the trap at both the optical wavelength scale and the trap size.
