Quantum Entanglement in Double Quantum Systems and Jaynes-Cummings Model

Abstract

In the paper, we proposed a new approach to producing the qubits in electron transport in low-dimensional structures such as double quantum wells or double quantum wires (DQW). The qubit could arise as a result of quantum entanglement of two specific states of electrons in DQW structure. These two specific states are the symmetric and antisymmetric (with respect to inversion symmetry) states arising due to tunneling across the structure, while entanglement could be produced and controlled by means of the source of nonclassical light. We examined the possibility to produce quantum entanglement in the framework of Jaynes-Cummings model and have shown that at least in principle, the entanglement can be achieved due to series of "revivals" and "collapses" in the population inversion due to the interaction of a quantized single-mode EM field with a two-level system.

Quantum origin of dephasing and revivals in the coherent-state Jaynes-Cummings model

P. L. Knight, PAUL M. RADMORE

The Jaynes-Cummings model of a two-level system interacting with a single-mode coherent-state field is investigated in a transformed representation emphasizing quantum corrections to the semiclassical Rabi problem. We find an intuitive explanation of the collapse and revivals of oscillations in the population inversion.

Bound entanglement in the Jaynes–Cummings model

Nicolás Quesada, Anna Sanpera

We study in detail entanglement properties of the Jaynes-Cummings model assuming a two-level atom (qubit) interacting with the first $N$ levels of an electromagnetic field mode (qudit) in a cavity. In the Jaynes-Cummings model, the number operator is the conserved quantity that allows for the exact diagonalization of the Hamiltonian and thus we study states that commute with this conserved quantity and whose structure is preserved under the Jaynes-Cummings dynamics. Contrary to the common belief, we show that there are bound entangled states that satisfy the symmetries imposed by the conservation of the number of excitations when $N>3$. Furthermore we show that \emph{the Jaynes-Cummings interaction can be used to generate bound-entanglement} between the atom and the mode.

Evolution of the superposition of displaced number states with the two-atom multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model: interference and entanglement

Faisal A A El-Orany

In this paper, we study the evolution of two two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode quantized radiation field, namely, the two-atom multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model (JCM). We assume that the field and the atoms are initially prepared in the superposition of displaced number states and excited atomic states, respectively. For this system, we investigate the atomic inversion, Wigner function, phase distribution and entanglement. We show that for symmetric (asymmetric) atoms, the system can generate asymmetric (symmetric) cat states at a quarter of the revival time. Furthermore, the degrees of entanglement for the field–atoms and the one-atom–remainder tangles depend on the rate of energy flow between the parties. The interference in phase space decreases the degree of entanglement in the bipartite.

Long-lived entangled states in the double Jaynes–Cummings model taking into account the qubits direct dipole-dipole interaction

Evgeny K. Bashkirov

Background. The study of entangled states in Jaynes–Cummings models and its multiqubit generalizations and extensions remains an important and relevant topic in modern quantum optics, quantum information science and solid state physics. This is due to the fact that such models naturally describe the dynamics of interaction of logical elements of quantum devices, such as quantum computers or quantum networks (qubits) with microwave fields of resonators used to control the states of qubits. In this regard, it is very important to search for the most efficient schemes of generation, control and monitoring of entangled qubit states within the framework of Jaynes–Cummings type models. Aim. To investigate the entanglement dynamics of a pair of qubits, each of which is locked in a single-mode resonator and interacts non-resonantly with the vacuum field mode, in the presence of detuning between frequencies of transitions in the qubits and frequencies of resonator modes and dipole-dipole interaction of the qubits. Methods. To analyze the dynamics of the considered system, the solution of the time-dependent quantum Schrödinger equation is investigated. The exact solution of the above equation in the case of entangled Bell-type initial qubits states is found. This is used to calculate the criterion of entanglement of a pair of qubits – negativity. Numerical modeling of the time dependence of negativity for different values of the parameters of the considered model has been carried out. Results. It is shown that the presence of detuning, the difference in the qubit-photon couplings and the intensity of the dipole-dipole interaction significantly affect the maximum degree of entanglement of the qubit subsystem during its evolution. It is found that for certain parameters of the model under consideration, the initial Bell entangled states of qubits can be considered as long-lived stable states. Conclusion. The possibility of realization of long-lived and robust two-qubit entangled states in the system under consideration has been established. The obtained results can be used for effective control and manipulation of the degree of entanglement of qubits interacting with microwave fields of resonators.

Dynamics of entanglement in a two-mode nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings mode

A. B. M. Ahmed, S. Sivakumar

Dynamics of entanglement due to intensity-dependent interaction between a two-level atom and a single-mode electromagnetic field in a Kerr medium is studied. The form of the interaction is such that the Hamiltonian evolution is exactly solvable. The Hamiltonian is shown to be a deformed Jaynes-Cummings model admitting a closed, symmetric algebra. Dynamics of population inversion and atom-field entanglement are studied taking the initial state of the field to be either a coherent state or a squeezed vacuum. Analysis is extended to the case of a two-mode cavity field interacting with a two-level atom. For the two-mode case, the initial field is a pair coherent state or a two-mode squeezed vacuum. Effects due to nonlinearity, intensity-dependent interaction and detuning on the dynamics are discussed and compared with those of the single-mode case.
