Abstract

A way is presented with which the optical field states exhibiting much deeper squeezing can be achieved through a simple superposition of the vacuum and the squeezed states with smaller squeezing. The enhancement effect of squeezing and the antibunching effect exhibiting in the superposition states depend on the average photon number of the squeezed states and, are very remarkable for the field exhibiting much smaller squeezing.

Enhancement of nonclassical effect and superposition state

Zhanxian Yan, Kaicheng Zhu, Qing Wang

The quantum statistical properties of the superposition state involving a coherent state and a squeezed vacuum are investigated. Such states can enhance the squeezing parameter and the intensity compared with the incoming squeezed vacuum state. Also, the antibunching effect can occur in such states under certain conditions.

Nonclassical Properties of Para-Bose Superposition States

Yang Yu, D.M. Wang

We investigate the nonclassical properties of para-Bose superposition states which involve the vacuum and one-or two-photon state of paraboson. It is found that these para-Bose superposition states exhibit stronger squeezing and antibunching. The amplitude-squared squeezing for these states is also examined.

SQUEEZING IN BISTABLE OPTICAL SYSTEMS

Serge Reynaud, E. Giacobino

It is known that optical bistable systems are capable of generating squeezed states of light. Perfect squeezing can even be achieved near the bistability threshold. We show that it is possible to obtain the quantum fluctuations of the outgoing field by a "classical" treatment provided that the vacuum fluctuations are properly accounted for. This approach allows us to give a simple physical interpretation to the fluctuation spectra computed for optimum squeezing and for intensity squeezing.

DIPOLE SQUEEZING OF THE ATOM IN A TWO-ATOM SYSTEM: EFFECTS OF THE SUPERPOSITION STATES

Mubeen A. Mir

Dipole squeezing of the atom in the presence of another atom is investigated for the one-photon and two-photon transition mechanism with the initial atoms in the two-atom squeezed state and the field in a vacuum, a coherent, or a squeezed state. For a vacuum input, the degree of squeezing is shown to depend on the photon multiplicity 'm' and the superposition angles of the atoms, θ1 and θ2. One of the quadratures of the atomic polarization is found to exhibit permanent squeezing only for some nonzero values of θ1, as well as θ2. The effect of θ2 on the dipole squeezing, however, is found to be negligible for the initial field in a coherent or a squeezed state. A comparison with the dipole squeezing of a single atom is also presented.

Quantum Properties of the Superposition of Excited Coherent States

LU Dao-ming

The superposition of two excited coherent states with identical intensity and different phases are constructed. Its antibunching effect and amplitude-squared squeezing are studied numerically. The result shows that as the light intensity and the excited photon number increase, the antibunching effect decreases and the amplitude-squared squeezing increases. The amplitude-squared squeezing is influenced by the phase difference.

SECOND-ORDER AND AMPLITUDE-SQUARED SQUEEZING OF THE TWO TWO-LEVEL ATOMS WITH SUPERPOSITION STATE PREPARATION

Mubeen A. Mir

An analysis of the second-order and amplitude-squared (AS) squeezing is presented for the two atoms prepared in a two-atom squeezed state using coherent and squeezed field inputs. The system produce strong sqeezing and superposition angle (θ) is more effective for small values of average photon number [Formula: see text] as compared to that of large one. The degree of squeezing of both types increases as θ increases for coherent field input with small [Formula: see text]. Some values of θ for the initial field in a squeezed-vacuum state with any value of input squeezing can make one of the quadrature of the both types of squeezing permanently squeezed for T≥0. For the initial field in a more general squeezed state, the second-order and AS squeezing behave randomly for different values of θ.
