Exact Nagaoka-to-spiral transition in the doped infinite-U triangular lattice

Yang Zhang, Cristian D. Batista

We study the single-hole infinite-$U$ Hubbard model on the triangular lattice with nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor hoppings $t_1$ and $t_2$. A frustrating $t_2$ destabilizes Nagaoka ferromagnetism through a Lifshitz transition to a long-wavelength coplanar spiral at $t_{2,c}/t_1=-0.182$. We determine the critical point analytically by reducing the many-body problem to an effective two-body hole--magnon scattering problem in which the hard-core hole--magnon constraint is treated exactly. Numerical calculations confirm the spiral ground state and reveal a coherent spin polaron with quasiparticle weight $Z\simeq0.92$ at the Lifshitz-shifted momentum $\mathbf{K}=-\mathbf{Q}^*$. These results establish the first quantum instability of the triangular-lattice Nagaoka ferromagnet and provide the magnetic baseline for magnon-mediated pairing at finite doping.

The fate of the spin polaron in the 1D antiferromagnets

Piotr Wrzosek, Adam Kłosiński, Yao Wang +3 more

The stability of the spin polaron quasiparticle, well established in studies of a single hole in the 2D antiferromagnets, is investigated in the 1D antiferromagnets using a t t - J J model. We perform an exact slave fermion transformation to the holon-magnon basis, and diagonalize numerically the resulting model in the presence of a single hole. We demonstrate that the spin polaron collapses - and the spin-charge separation takes over - due to the specific role played by the magnon-magnon interactions and the magnon hard-core constraint in the 1D t t - J J model. Moreover, we prove that the spin polaron is stable for any strength of the magnon-magnon interaction other than the unique value found in a 1D antiferromagnet with the continuous symmetry of the spin interactions. Fine-tuning to this unique value is extremely unlikely to occur in quasi-1D antiferromagnets, therefore the spin polaron is the stable quasiparticle of realistic 1D materials. Our results lead to a new interpretation of the ARPES spectra of quasi-1D antiferromagnets in the spin polaron language.

Dressed magnon dynamics in a Bose-Hubbard bath: retardation, pairing, entanglement and two-magnon scattering

Andrés N. Cáliz, Arnau Riera, Enrique Rico +2 more

We study one- and two-magnon dynamics in a spin-$1/2$ XX chain coupled to a tunable Bose-Hubbard bath. The XX Hamiltonian transports the magnons, while the bath dresses their motion and mediates an effective attraction. A single magnon forms a mobile polaron whose retarded bosonic cloud reduces its velocity below the static Lang-Firsov prediction and generates magnon-boson entanglement. In the weak-dressing, off-resonant mobile regime, the residual velocity deficit and entanglement are governed by the excitation weight of the cloud, as captured by perturbation theory and tensor network-based real-time simulations. Transport therefore provides a model-calibrated proxy for entanglement without joint-state reconstruction. When two clouds overlap, the bath mediates a finite-range attraction, yielding finite-size evidence for a compact two-magnon bound state and a transient post-scattering signature. On-site bath interactions suppress local boson number fluctuations and stiffen the bath response, reducing entanglement and weakening ground-state binding. Bath deformability thus emerges as a common control parameter for magnon transport, entanglement, and bath-mediated pairing.

We determine the critical point analytically by reducing the many-body problem to an effective two-body hole--magnon scattering problem in which the hard-core hole--magnon constraint is treated exactly. Numerical calculations confirm the spiral ground state and reveal a coherent spin polaron with quasiparticle weight Z≃0.92Z\simeq0.92Z≃0.92 at the Lifshitz-shifted momentum K=−Q∗\mathbf{K}=-\mathbf{Q}^*K=−Q∗. These results establish the first quantum instability of the triangular-lattice Nagaoka ferromagnet and provide the magnetic baseline for magnon-mediated pairing at finite doping.
